Armenia Holds Drills with US amid Rift with Russia

Joint military drills between Armenian and US forces, 'Exercise Eagle Partner's' kicked off, the latest sign of Yerevan drifting from Moscow's orbit as Russia's invasion of Ukraine reshapes post-Soviet relations.
The exercises came amid mounting frustration in Armenia over what it sees as Russia's failure to act as a security guarantor amid mounting tensions with its historic rival Azerbaijan.
As per Armenia's defence ministry, the exercises aimed to increase the level of interoperability with US forces in international peacekeeping missions.
The exercise would conclude on September 20.

Indian Coast Guard Participates in Asian Maritime Security Meet in Istanbul

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) participated in the 19th Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting (HACGAM) in Turkey's Istanbul that took place in September. Director General Rakesh Pal led the ICG delegation, which consists of four members.
As per information, during the three-day meet, a series of vital issues, including, maritime law enforcement, safety and security of life at sea, marine environment protection, illicit trafficking of drugs, weapons, and humans at sea etc were discussed.
The HACGAM is an annual event hosted by one of its member nations on a rotational basis. In 2022, the 18th edition of the meeting was hosted by the ICG in New Delhi.
The forum, which has 23-member coast guard agencies and two associate members - Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) - was initiated by Japan to promote cooperation among regional coast guards.
It was established in 2004.

Myanmar Receives First Shipment of Russia's Su-30 fighter Jets

Myanmar received the first shipment of two Russian Su-30 fighter jets, Charlie Than, Myanmar's Trade Minister said.
Russia and Myanmar signed a contract in September 2022 for the delivery of six Su-30SME fighter jets.
The Sukhoi Su-30SME multi-role fighter jet is designed for enemy's aerial targets engagement, aerial reconnaissance, combat employment and pilot training, according to Rosoboronexport, Russia's state-controlled arms exporter.

IAF Chief in Spain Receives First C-295 Transport Plane for India

Air Chief Marshal V. R. Chaudhari- the chief of the Indian Air Force, was in Spain where he received the first C-295 transport plane made for India by global aircraft manufacturer Airbus for India at a facility in Seville.
The Indian Air Force signed a contract for 56 of these planes of which 16 would be made in Spain while the remaining 40 would be produced by the joint venture of Tata and Airbus in their facility in Vadodara, Gujarat.
The IAF chief would receive the first aircraft from Airbus at their facility in Seville, Spain.

Army, Air Force Participate In 'Nabh Shakti' Joint Training Exercise

Joint Training Exercise 'Nabh Shakti' was conducted in the Indian Army's Brahmastra Corps (Mountain Strike Corps) with the participation of the Indian Army and Indian Air Force to validate rapid response to dynamic operational scenarios and enhance joint acumen in multimodal operations.
The exercise achieved integration at all strata enmeshing operational concepts and procedures.

Indian Air Force and Drone Federation of India to Co-host Bharat Drone Shakti 2023

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is collaborating with the Drone Federation of India to co-host 'Bharat Drone Shakti 2023.' This upcoming event, scheduled for the 25th and 26th of September 2023, will take place at the IAF's airbase in Hindan (Ghaziabad). It is anticipated to be a pioneering exhibition highlighting the prowess of the Indian drone industry, with more than 50 live aerial demonstrations.
The event will encompass a wide range of drone applications, including survey drones, agriculture drones, fire suppression drones, tactical surveillance drones, heavy-lift logistics drones, loitering munition systems, drone swarms, and counter-drone solutions. This comprehensive exhibition will underscore the versatility and innovation present within the Indian drone sector.
Above all, 'Bharat Drone Shakti 2023' serves as a testament to India's commitment to becoming a global drone hub by 2030.

North Korea Launches First 'Tactical Nuclear Attack Submarine'

North Korea launched its first 'tactical nuclear attack submarine' which has been built as part of its plan to strengthen its naval force.
The unveiling ceremony was presided over by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who said that the new submarine was part of a push forward with the nuclear weaponization of the Navy in the future.
The submarine's launch, which has been named the 'Hero Kim Kun Ok', heralded the beginning of a new chapter for bolstering up the naval force of the DPRK.

Second Barge of LSAM 16 Series Delivered to Navy

The Indian Navy said that the second barge of the LSAM 16 (Yard 126) series built by a private firm was delivered to it, and its induction will provide impetus to the operational commitments of the naval force by facilitating transportation of articles, ammunition to ships.
The barge delivered in Mumbai has been built under the classification rules of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) with a service life of 30 years. With all major and auxiliary equipment/ systems sourced from indigenous manufacturers, the Barge is proud flag bearer of 'Make in India' initiatives of the Ministry of Defence.

Maritime Partnership Exercise between Indian Navy Ship and Sri Lanka Navy Ship Concludes

The Maritime Partnership Exercise between Indian Navy ship and Sri Lanka Navy ship concluded at Port City, Sri Lanka. The visit concluded at sea off Colombo between INS Delhi and SLN ship Vijayabahu. A clean-up drive at Crow Island beach was jointly undertaken by the visiting ship's crew and personnel from Sri Lanka Navy Ship. As part of 'Arogya Maitri', initiative, the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka presented a state-of-the-art Arogya Maitri Cube to the Hon'ble speaker of Sri Lanka Parliament during a reception hosted onboard INS Delhi. Senior government officials including the Minister for Ports, Shipping and Aviation, the Attorney General Secretary General of defence and all three service chiefs attended.
