Gwalior Unveils India's First Self-Sufficient Gaushala with a State-of-the-Art CBG Plant

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's first modern, self-sufficient gaushala in Laltipara, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The gaushala, named Adarsh Gaushala, houses a state-of-the-art Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plant, marking a major milestone in India's journey toward achieving sustainable development and promoting green energy solutions. This project reflects Modi's vision of turning "Waste to Wealth", highlighting how organic waste can be transformed into valuable resources.
  • The Adarsh Gaushala is operated by the Gwalior Municipal Corporation and is home to over 10,000 cattle. It stands out as a self-reliant model, utilising cattle dung and organic waste to generate compressed biogas and organic manure.

The 6th Meeting of ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement Joint Committee

  • The 6th ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) Joint Committee and related meetings for discussions on the review of the AITIGA were held from 15 to 22 November, 2024 in Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. The AITIGA Joint Committee met for 2 days from 21 to 22 November, 2024 and the meeting was co-chaired by Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, India, Rajesh Agrawal, and Deputy Secretary General (Trade), Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry, Malaysia, Ms. Mastura Ahmad Mustafa.
  • The leads and delegates from all 10 ASEAN countries viz. Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand & Vietnam participated in the meeting.

Pabitra Margherita Inaugurates Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of World Crafts Forum

  • Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and Development Commissioner of Handicrafts, in collaboration with the World Crafts Council (WCC) organised the inaugural edition of the World Crafts Forum 2024 at New Delhi. Scheduled from November 22 to 24 in New Delhi, followed by Srinagar from November 25 to 27, this event commemorates the 60th anniversary of the pioneering global crafts movement led by World Crafts Council International.
  • The Diamond Jubilee celebrations of World Crafts Forum was inaugurated by Minister of State for the Ministry of Textiles Pabitra Margherita.

Centre Releases 15th Finance Commission Grant for Rural Local Bodies in Karnataka

  • The Centre released the first instalment of the 15th Finance Commission grants for FY 2024-25 to the rural local bodies (RLBs) in Karnataka, the Union Panchayati Raj Ministry said.
  • The funds are meant for all the 5,949 eligible gram panchayats in the state.
  • The grants will be utilised by the RLBs for location-specific requirements under the 29 subjects enshrined in the 11th Schedule of the Constitution, except for salaries and other establishment costs.

Bihar Cabinet Approves Rs. 225 crore for 'Mahila Samwad' Programme

  • The Bihar Cabinet gave its nod for allocation of Rs. 225 crore for 'Mahila Samwad', an ambitious programme under which CM Nitish Kumar, ministers and top officials would visit districts to inform women about the ongoing policies of the state government for their empowerment.
  • As per reports, the interaction programme will be held at district and block level with the chief minister, likely to attend a number of these, while his cabinet colleagues and top officials would chip in at other places.

India's 1st AI Data Bank to Boost National Security

  • The Ministry of Science and Technology launched India's first Artificial Intelligence (AI) data bank that is aimed at propelling innovation and boosting the country's national security.
  • The initiative will provide researchers, start-ups, and developers access to high-quality, diverse datasets essential for creating scalable and inclusive AI solutions.
  • It was launched by Minister of Science and Technology Minister (Independent Charge) Jitendra Singh at the 7th Edition of the ASSOCHAM AI Leadership Meet 2024 in New Delhi.

Prasar Bharati Launches its Own OTT Platform 'Waves'

  • Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant launched 'WAVES' the OTT platform of the national public broadcaster, Prasar Bharati at the opening ceremony of 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary I&B, among other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
  • Doordarshan, India's iconic public broadcaster, ventured into the OTT (Over-The-Top) platform space to cater to the growing demand for digital streaming services. The platform aims to revive nostalgia while embracing modern digital trends by offering a rich mix of classic content and contemporary programming.

Assam Renames Karimganj District

  • Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state government decided to rename Karimganj district as Sribhumi. The new name is inspired by poet Rabindranath Tagore's reference to the region as 'the land of Maa Lakshmi,' symbolising prosperity and divine blessings.
  • The decision made during a cabinet meeting reflects the historical and cultural significance of the region. CM Sarma noted that Tagore had described the area as "Sribhumi" over a century ago, and the renaming honours this legacy while fulfilling a long-standing demand from the local community.

India, Australia Launch Renewable Energy Partnership

  • India and Australia officially launched the Renewable Energy Partnership aimed at boosting two-way investment in the renewable energy sectors as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese.
  • The two leaders held the 2nd India-Australia Annual Summit on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro during which they reiterated their commitment to further advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in myriad areas like defence & security, trade & investment, education, skills, sports, space, mobility & people-to-people ties.
  • Both leaders welcomed the launch of the Renewable Energy Partnership (REP), as agreed during the 1st India-Australia annual summit.

Narendra Modi Becomes the First Indian PM to Visit Guyana in 56 Years

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first Indian PM to visit Guyana in 56 years and he was received at the airport with warm welcome. In an unprecedented gesture, he was received at the airport by President Irfan Ali and over a dozen cabinet ministers. PM Modi received a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour in Georgetown, Guyana.
  • During his visit, PM Modi addressed a special sitting of Guyana's parliament. He also joined leaders from the Caribbean partner countries for the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit.
  • According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Minister's visit came at the invitation of Guyanese President Mohammad Irfaan Ali.
