SATTE 2021 Concludes With Message of Revival and Reconnect

  • Informa Markets in India, India's leading B2B exhibition organiser, successfully culminated its three-day travel and tourism exchange SATTE's 28th edition at the India Expo Center, Greater Noida. Inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Arvind Singh, Secretary - Tourism, Govt. of India, the show witnessed participation of over 10,000 visitors from cross-sections of travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Some key dignitaries present at the inauguration of the expo included Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Minister of Tourism, Maldives; Mr. Maneck E. Davar, Chairman, Service Export Promotion Council; Ms. Jyoti Mayal, Vice-Chairperson, FAITH; M P Bezbaruah, Former Secretary – Tourism, Govt. of India and Secretary General, Hotel Association of India; Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India and Ms. Pallavi Mehra, Group Director, Informa Markets In India amidst an august industry gathering .
  • SATTE 2021 garnered significant support from the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, Service Export Promotion Council (SEPC) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Ayush and State Tourism Boards such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir to name a few. Willie Walsh Takes over as IATA Director General

  • Willie Walsh, former chief executive of International Airlines Group (IAG), has become the eighth director general of International Air Transport Association (IATA. He replaced Alexandre de Juniac.
  • Walsh, who joined IATA after a 40-year career in the airline industry, had in September 2020 retired from the International Airlines Group (IAG) after serving as its chief executive officer since its inception in 2011. Walsh was the chief executive officer of British Airways (2005-2011) and Aer Lingus (2001-2005).
  • He also served on the IATA Board of Governors between 2005 and 2018, including serving as Chair in 2016-2017.
  • The appointment comes at a time when the aviation industry is adversely impacted by the covid-19 pandemic, which has dented demand amid travel restrictions by certain countries to contain the spread of the virus.

Federer Signs up with Switzerland Tourism

  • After years of positively representing Switzerland through his sporting excellence and friendly, down-to-earth manner, Roger Federer has now become an official brand ambassador for the destination.
  • The tennis legend is entering into a long-term cooperation with the Swiss national tourism board, Switzerland Tourism.
  • The common goal: attracting guests to visit Switzerland with its energising nature.

Surat to Diu Cruise Service

  • In a boost to the sea tourism in Gujarat, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya virtually flagged off cruise services from Hazira Port of Surat to Diu via video conferencing.
  • Mandaviya said that the development of cruise tourism is the prime focus of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government.
  • One side voyage time of the cruise service is approximately 13 to 14 hours.
  • The cruise has a capacity of 300 passengers and has 16 cabins.
  • This cruise will sail two round trips in a week.
  • The cruise has Gaming Lounge, VIP Lounge, Entertainment on Deck and other modern amenities.

Prahlad Singh Patel Inaugurates the 'Chhatrasal Convention Centre at Khajuraho

  • Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh inaugurated the 'Maharaja Chhatrasal Convention Centre at Khajuraho developed under Swadesh Darshan Scheme of Ministry of Tourism in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. Smt. Usha Thakur, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Madhya Pradesh, Shri Vishnu Dutt Sharma, Member of Parliament, Khajuraho Constituency, Shri Virendra Kumar, Member of Parliament, Tikamgarh, Pushpendra Singh Chandel, Member of Parliament, Hamirpur, Shri Arvind Singh, Secretary (Tourism), GoI; Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary (Tourism & Culture), Government of Madhya Pradesh, Ms. Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, GoI and other dignitaries and officials of Government of India and State Government of Madhya Pradesh also graced the occasion.
  • The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan assured full cooperation of state government in developing all tourism places in the state with the help of Central Government. He dwelt upon the various measures taken by State Government in developing many tourist places in this state. He also said that under the able guidance of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi development of many tourism places including of tourism places are undergoing in the state.

Indian Video App Moj Announces Partnership to Promote Travel to UAE

  • Short video app Moj announced a partnership with UAE's Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) for travel content made by Indian creators.
  • Fourteen creators, including Mohak Narang, Surbhi Rathore, Abraz Khan and Anmol Bhatia, will make a five-day trip to Ras Al Khaimah and share videos on Moj about their travel there.
  • The trip will provide Moj creators an opportunity to explore over 7,000 years of history, traditional culture, and magnificent landscapes of Ras Al Khaimah, which is home to the longest zipline in the world.
  • Travel and entertainment-related content is a key focus area for Moj and with the partnership with RAKTDA.
