IGNOU Launches First MSc in Home Science, Focusing on Community Development
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) introduced a new Master of Science (MSc) in Home Science with specialisation in Community Development and Extension Management. It is a two-year course for graduates who want to work in the development industry, overseeing community projects related to health, employment, education, and social change.
The course is provided by the School of Continuing Education and will be taught in English through Open Distance Learning (ODL). It's for Home Science graduates but also for others in Social Sciences, Behavioural Sciences, and other disciplines who desire to work at the community level.

IIT Hyderabad, Central Sanskrit University Sign MoU to Study Indian Knowledge System
The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) and Central Sanskrit University (CSU), New Delhi, signed an agreement to work together in the areas of Sanskrit, Indian Knowledge Systems, and technology-based research.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) sets the stage for both institutions to collaborate on teaching and research in Sanskrit, Vedic sciences, linguistics, and related subjects.
India Slips to 131st Position in Global Gender Gap Index 2025 (15)
India ranked 131 out of 148 countries in the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2025, slipping two places from its position last year (2024).
With a parity score of just 64.1 per cent, India is among the lowest-ranked countries in South Asia, according to the report.
The Global Gender Gap Index measures gender parity across four key dimensions: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment.

IIT Bhilai Partners with French Institute for International Degree Collaboration
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Institut Mines-Tlcom (IMT) Nord Europe in France to enhance academic and research cooperation between India and France. The agreement was signed by Prof. Rajiv Prakash, Director of IIT Bhilai, on behalf of the institute.
This MoU aims to promote mutual collaboration in areas of common interest. It will support both institutions in their academic goals and also contribute to the broader educational, social, and cultural development of their regions.
As part of the agreement, undergraduate and postgraduate students from IIT Bhilai will get a chance to study in France and pursue joint degrees.
The collaboration will focus on specific subject areas including Mechanical Engineering, Polymer and Composite Materials, Mechatronics, and Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence.

SSC Launches Mobile-Based Application Process for Government Job Aspirants
In a big push towards making government job applications easier and more accessible, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) launched a fully upgraded version of its mySSC mobile app. The app, now live, allows candidates -- especially those from rural areas -- to fill and submit their applications for SSC exams entirely through their mobile phones.
Candidates can now complete the full application process on the app, including Aadhaar-based OTP and face authentication.
The app, developed in partnership with Cubastion Consulting, is part of a broader effort to make the entire SSC recruitment cycle—from registration to final selection—more secure, transparent, and user-friendly.
