Tripura records zero primary school dropout rate for 2025–26

Tripura has achieved a milestone in education, recording zero primary school dropout rate for Classes 1–5 in the 2025–26 academic year, according to UDISE+ data released in September 2026. The state reduced its dropout rate from 2.21% in 2013–14 to zero in 2025–26, while secondary dropout also declined. Authorities credit foundational education reforms, including the NIPUN Bharat Mission and Saksham Tripura, which focus on learning outcomes, early literacy, and learner support. International Literacy Day 2026 observed with global theme

International Literacy Day (ILD) 2026 was observed on 8 September under the theme Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity. UNESCO established ILD in 1966, and global celebrations have taken place since 1967. The 60th anniversary of ILD highlighted the link between literacy and human development, environmental sustainability, and social equity. UGC-NET June 2026 results declared for 84 subjects

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the results of the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for 84 subjects, making the results accessible to candidates on the official portal. The release comes amid ongoing reforms to simplify and strengthen higher-education assessments. Every candidate can download their scorecard using login credentials. In a related update, NTA said English, Commerce and Sociology papers will be re-conducted on September 9–10, 2026, due to identified irregularities in the June session. Meghalaya launches Read & Rise literacy programme

Meghalaya government has launched the Read & Rise programme to strengthen foundational literacy for children above seven years.
