Ordnance Factories Day

Ordnance Factory Day is observed every year on the March 18 to commemorate the foundation of the first Ordnance Factory at Cossipore near Kolkata in 1801.
The day is celebrated by displaying the rifles, guns, artillery, ammunition in exhibitions all over India. Usually the exhibitions are open to all. The celebrations start with a parade and the exhibition also displays the photographs of various mountaineering expeditions.
The theme 2021 of Ordnance Factories Day is Vinashaya Dushkritam.

Sixth India-Brazil-South Africa Women's Forum Meeting

The Sixth India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Women's Forum meeting was held virtually on March 17. During the consultation, the Forum discussed key issues that contribute towards the transformation of women's lives.
The India-Brazil-South Africa Trilateral Cooperation Forum is a unique platform which brings together India, Brazil and South Africa, three large democracies and major economies from three different continents.
The meeting was led by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. During the meeting, the Ministers reaffirmed their commitment towards addressing gender gap and women-centric issues through mutual cooperation.
The participating countries also lauded the efforts of Government of India in helping out other countries to overcome the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic by way of providing vaccines, masks, sanitizers and PPE Kits.

Global Recycling Day

Global Recycling Day is observed every year on March 18 to create awareness among the masses about the rapid pace at which our natural resources are being used. The day promotes the concept and practice of recycling. Every year, events are organised by environmentalist and activists to promote the cause.
Global Recycling Day was created in 2018 to help recognise, and celebrate, the importance of recycling in preserving the Earth's natural resources. The main mission of Global Recycling Day, as set out by the Global Recycling Foundation, is to ask people not to waste natural resources and to tell leaders of the world about the importance of recycling. The Global Recycling Foundation, in collaboration with the United Nations, work unitedly towards these awareness programmes.
Every year, the day is observed with a particular theme. The theme of Global Recycling Day 2021 is "Recycling Heroes". Its main aim is to recognise the people, places and activities that showcase the importance of recycling in preserving natural resources.

India, UK to Host Global Meet on Disaster Risk, Resilience

A three-day international conference on disaster resilience, to discuss several aspects of disaster preparedness including health and digital infrastructure resilience begun on March 17.
The Coalition of Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) will host the conference that Prime Minister Narendra Modi; UK PM Boris Johnson; PM of Italy Mario Draghi OMRI, and Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, PM of Fiji, will address on day 1.

National Vaccination Day

The National Vaccination Day, also called the National Immunization Day, is celebrated every year on March 16 to convey the importance of vaccination to the entire nation. The day was first observed in the year 1995, the year in which India started Pulse Polio Programme. This year, the National Vaccination Day is important as the country has started its biggest Covid-19 immunization programme early this year and has already crossed the 30 million mark.
The National Vaccination day started with the aim of curbing Polio plaguing the world. The day was observed to better awareness about the disease and how it can be eradicated from the planet. About 172 million children are immunized during each National Immunization Day.

IIT Gandhinagar to Celebrate Brain Awareness Week 2021

The Centre for Cognitive and Brain Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is celebrating the virtual edition of the Brain Awareness Week from March 15 to 21, 2021. The event includes a variety of talks, panel discussions, workshops, and competitions targeted at a diverse audience ranging from core neuroscience researchers to high school students.
Scholars and practitioners of cognitive and brain sciences from some of the most prestigious institutions from India and abroad will be a part of IIT Gandhinagar's Brain Awareness Week 2021 this year.
Brain Awareness Week is an annual event celebrated across the world to inform and educate people about the many wonders of the brain in order to generate excitement amongst youngsters to pursue research in Brain Sciences.

World Consumer Rights Day

World Consumer Rights Day is observed every year on March 15. The day is marked for raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs so as to enable the consumer to fight against social injustices.
World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by President John F. Kennedy, who sent a special message to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so. The consumer movement first marked that date in 1983 and now uses the day every year to mobilise action on important issues and campaigns.
Each year, World Consumer Rights Day adopts a theme to highlight. This year the theme promoted is "Tackle Plastic Pollution."
