Autistic Pride Day

Autistic Pride Day is observed every year on 18 June. The day is dedicated to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for them to be autistic and proud and celebrate who they are. Let us read in detail about autism.
In 2005, the day was celebrated first time by the organisation Aspies for Freedom (AFF) so that people suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) could have one day where they could celebrate their neurodiversity and differences. One of the amazing qualities about this event is that it is not run by charities but by individuals with ASD.

World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is a United Nations observance celebrated each year on 17 June. Its purpose is to raise awareness of the presence of desertification and drought, highlighting methods of preventing desertification and recovering from drought. Each year's global celebration has a unique, novel emphasis that had not been developed previously.
This day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/49/115 on January 30, 1995, after the day when United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification is drafted.
The theme of 2022 Desertification and Drought Day was "Rising up from drought together".

International Day of Family Remittances

The International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly and is observed on 16th June. The IDFR recognises more than 200 million migrant workers, women and men, who send money home to over 800 million family members. This day further highlights the great resilience of migrant workers in the face of economic insecurities, natural and climate related disasters and a global pandemic.
The United Nations in 2022 continued the 2021 theme for International Day of Family Remittances: 'Recovery and resilience through digital and financial inclusion'.
IDFR is a universally-recognised observance adopted by United Nations General Assembly's (UNGA). The custodian of IDFR towards these objectives is the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). IFAD is a specialized United Nations (UN) agency that was one of the major outcomes of the World Food Conference 1974. Later in 1977, it was set up as an international financial institution.

World Wind Day

On 15th June, Global Wind Day is celebrated across the world, annually and it is marked as a day of discovering the possibilities of wind power. It is a day for discovering wind, its power and the possibilities it holds to reshape our energy systems. This day is dedicated to learn about wind energy and its potential to reshape energy systems, decarbonizing economies and boosting employment as well as growth. The purpose of this day is to increase public knowledge of wind energy and its uses.
The First Wind Day was commemorated in 2007 by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA). In 2009 the EWEA collaborated with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and made it a global event. WindEurope and GWEC from then celebrate this day together. In 2012, the clubs promoted photography competition where people were encouraged to capture the best picture keeping in mind the theme of the year.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, or WEAAD, is an annual initiative launched on June 15, 2006, by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization. In its 66/127 resolution, the United Nations General Assembly designated that date as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, a day in which the entire world voices its opposition to any form of abuse of the older generation.
WEAAD aims to provide an opportunity for communities around the world to promote a better understanding of the abuse older people suffer by raising awareness of the cultural, social, economic, and demographic processes affecting them. Elder abuse is one of the least investigated types of violence and does not get addressed in national action plans as frequently as other key social issues.
The theme for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2022 is Digital Equity for All Ages.

NCPCR's Elimination of Child Labour Week: 12-20 June 2022

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is celebrating Elimination of Child Labour Week in the honour of World Day Against Child Labour. It is being celebrated in 75 places as part of the "75th anniversary celebrations of India's independence – "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" in different districts starting from 12th June to 20th June, 2022 as a significance to pay attention to the problem of child labour and to find ways to eradicate it. National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) was constituted by the Government of India, as a statutory body under section 3 of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005 for dealing with the protection of child rights and related matters.
For the Commission, protection of all children in the 0 to 18 years age group is of equal importance. Thus, policies define priority actions for the most vulnerable children. This includes focus on regions that are backward or on communities or children under certain circumstances, and so on. The NCPCR believes that while in addressing only some children, there could be a fallacy of exclusion of many vulnerable children who may not fall under the defined or targeted categories.

World Blood Donor Day

World Blood Donor Day is observed on 14 June every year to raise awareness about the urgency of blood donations all over the world and to acknowledge and appreciate blood donors for their support. This year's slogan is "Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives". The theme is decided by WHO to highlight the roles that voluntary blood donations play in saving lives and enhancing solidarity within communities.
