Tamil scholar, orator Nellai Kannan Passes Away

Tamil scholar and orator Nellai Kannan passed away at his residence in Tirunelveli. He was 77.
Born in January 1945, Kannan was widely called 'Tamil Kadal' in literary circles for having a vast and deep (like the ocean or 'Kadal') knowledge about a range of topics and exemplary oratorical skills in Tamil. He gave discourses on spirituality and Tamil literature among others. Kannan was a member of the Indian National Congress and appeared as a moderator in many public debate shows.
He contested against the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader M Karunanidhi at Chepauk in the 1996 Assembly elections and came second. After leaving the Congress, Kannan actively campaigned for AIADMK in 2006.

Mastercard partnered with Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty and appointed them as brand ambassadors in India. As winners of the Thomas Cup 2022 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the new ambassadors will partner with Mastercard to spread awareness about the safety, security, and convenience of digital payments in India. This partnership is in line with the efforts of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Prime Minister Modi's vision of Digital India.

Former BCCI Acting Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary Passes Away

Amitabh Chaudhary, the former BCCI acting secretary and president of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) passed away.
A retired senior IPS officer, who rose to the rank of IGP with the Jharkhand Police, the former top cop was also the chairman of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC).
An IIT Kharagpur alumnus, Chaudhary was instrumental in getting the first-class status for Jharkhand after BCCI disbanded the Bihar Cricket Association during the late Jagmohan Dalmiya's tenure.

Veteran Stock Market Investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala Passes Away

Veteran stock investor and newly-launched Akasa Air founder Rakesh Jhunjhunwala passed away. He was 62.
The promoter of Akasa Air, Jhunjhunwala appeared days ago at its public launch.
Known as "India's Warren Buffet" for his ability to pick up low-priced quality stocks much before they become high performers, Jhunjhunwala was a cult figure in the Indian capital market. Retail investors followed his investment pattern.
Also known as the "Big Bull", he was always bullish about the Indian growth story.

Uttarakhand Govt. Appoints Rishab Pant as Brand Ambassador of State

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami named cricketer Rishabh Pant as the brand ambassador of the state.
The wicketkeeper-batter was born in Roorkee in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district.
Naming Pant as the state's brand ambassador at Uttarakhand Sadan in Delhi, Dhami said that his achievements in the world of cricket due to his strong willpower despite coming from a very ordinary background can be a source of inspiration for everyone.
Pant thanked the Chief Minister for conferring him with the honour and giving him an opportunity to serve the state.

Noted Singer Shivamogga Subbanna Passes Away

National award-winning singer Shivamogga Subbanna passed away at the age of 83.
Subbanna was the first Kannadiga to win a National Award for playback singing the song 'Kaadu Kudure Odi Banditta' in the film Kaadu Kudure. He became a household name in Karnataka after he sang 'Baarisu Kannada Dindimava', written by Rashtrakavi Kuvempu.
Known for his work in the field of 'Sugama Sangeetha', a genre in which poetry in Kannada is set to music, Subbanna has worked on and sung poetries of famous poets such as Kuvempu and Da Ra Bendre, and got several awards and honours. He was also a singer with Akashvani and Doordarshan and had worked as an advocate.
