INS Udaygiri: Navy Inducts Indigenous Stealth Frigate in Record Time
Showcasing the country's growing military manufacturing capabilities and enhancing its naval power, INS Udaygiri, the second ship of Project 17A's stealth frigates, was delivered to the Indian Navy on July 1, 2025.
The project is a successor of the Shivalik class frigates of Project 17 (P-17), which are now in active service. Udaygiri is the second among the seven Project 17A (P-17A) frigates under construction at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDSL) in Mumbai and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers in Kolkata. These multi-mission frigates are capable of operating in a 'blue water' environment — referring to the open ocean — dealing with both conventional and non-conventional threats in the area of India's maritime interests.
Adani Defence & Aerospace successfully delivered the Next Generation Anti-Radiation Missile (NGARM) Type-II, also known as Rudram-II, to the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The NGARM Type-II, an advanced air-to-surface missile, is designed to neutralise enemy radar and communication systems with high precision. This delivery follows Adani's involvement in the mass production of the Rudram missile series, including the hypersonic Rudram-2 variant, at its Hyderabad facility.

Navy Commissions Stealth Frigate 'Tamal' in Russia
Indian Navy's Russian-manufactured guided missile frigate INS Tamal that carries an array of missiles and surveillance systems was commissioned into the force at Russia's coastal city of Kaliningrad.
The ship has 26 per cent indigenous components, including the BrahMos long-range cruise missile for targeting both at sea and land.
Tamal will join the 'Sword Arm' of the Indian Navy, the Western Fleet.

Air Marshal S. Sivakumar VSM assumed the appointment of Air Officer-in-Charge Administration (AOA) at Air HQ, New Delhi on July 1, 2025.
The Air Marshal was commissioned in Administration branch of the Indian Air Force in June 1990. He holds an MBA in HRM from Pondicherry University and an M Phil degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from Osmania University.
In a career spanning over 35 years, the Air Marshal has held a number of important Command and Staff appointments.
First-ever Quad-at-Sea Mission Launched
The coast guards of India, Japan, the US and Australia launched the first-ever "Quad-at-sea" mission to boost operational coordination and interoperability in the Indo-Pacific.
The decision to launch the mission was taken at the four-nation's grouping annual summit in Wilmington in September last year (2024) that was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Quad leaders.

Parag Jain Appointed as New RAW Chief
Senior IPS Officer Parag Jain was appointed as the new Chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India's premier external intelligence agency. Jain, who is credited with a critical role in Operation Sindoor—India's swift and covert response to the Pahalgam terror attack—assumed office following the retirement of Ravi Sinha.
Parag Jain is a 1989-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Punjab cadre. Over a distinguished career spanning more than three decades, he has earned a reputation for tactical intelligence, strategic thinking, and operational leadership.
Jain has served for over 20 years within RAW, gaining deep institutional knowledge of India's external intelligence architecture.

India and South Africa Exchange Agreements in Domain of Submarine Cooperation
India and South Africa exchanged two agreements in the domain of submarine cooperation during a key meeting in Johannesburg as both sides sought to further strengthen bilateral defence ties, according to the defence ministry.
Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh led an Indian delegation to South Africa for the 9th Joint Defence Committee meeting held in Johannesburg.
