Ministry of Ayush Launches Shatavari for Wellness: Nationwide Campaign

  • The Ministry of Ayush launched a species-specific campaign, "Shatavari – For Better Health," aimed at raising awareness about the medicinal benefits of Shatavari. The initiative was inaugurated by Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, in the presence of key officials, including Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, and Mahesh Kumar Dadhich, CEO, National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB). This campaign follows the success of previous initiatives promoting medicinal plants like Amla, Moringa, Giloe, and Ashwagandha. The campaign aligns with the Panch Pran Goal set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for India's holistic development by 2047, with a special focus on women's health.

Odisha Joins Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat to Seek 50% Share in Central Taxes

  • Odisha demanded an increase in states' share of central taxes to 50 per cent from the existing 41 per cent. Odisha, which has sought Rs. 12.59 lakh crore in central taxes for the period 2026-31, joined states such as Gujarat and Tamil Nadu in making the demand.
  • CM Mohan Charan Majhi, along with senior officers, met the finance commission headed by Arvind Panagariya to seek an increase in its share in central taxes.
  • According to Panagariya, states such as Kerala, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Goa have suggested an increase in the states' share in central taxes to 50%.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Inaugurates North East Investment Roadshow in Chennai

  • The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) hosted the North East Trade and Investment Roadshow in Chennai. The roadshow evoked strong interest from potential investors who are eager to explore opportunities in the North Eastern States. The event was attended by Minister, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region & Ministry of Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, along with Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Mizoram, senior officials from MDoNER, North Eastern Council and North Eastern States.

UN President's 4-day Visit to India

  • United Nations General Assembly President Philemon Yang was in India for a 4-day visit from February 4 to 8 on his first official visit to the country.
  • During the four-day visit, the UNGA President held deliberations with the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar discussing key multilateral issues and regional interests.
  • Yang also visited Infosys and The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan Launches Watershed Yatra

  • Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a national-level mass outreach campaign 'Watershed Yatra'.
  • Chouhan launched the yatra to generate people's participation and create awareness about the watershed development activities carried out under Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (WDC-PMKSY 2.0).
  • A total of about 800 gram panchayats and more than 1 lakh people participated in the launch programme held in a hybrid mode.

Third India-Japan Steel Dialogue Organised to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in the Steel Sector

  • The 3rd India-Japan Steel Dialogue was successfully held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, jointly organised by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan, and the Ministry of Steel, India. The dialogue was co-chaired by Mr. Vinod Kumar Tripathi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India, and Mr. Hideyuki Urata, Deputy Director General, METI, Japan, leading the respective delegations from both nations.
  • During the discussions, both sides exchanged insights on the current economic developments in India and Japan, an overview of the steel sector in both countries, the latest trends in the steel industry, the status of steel trade between the two countries, and the international steel market. The Indian delegation highlighted strategic initiatives by the Government of India to promote ease of doing business, sustained growth in steel demand driven by infrastructure investment, and concrete steps such as the release of the Green Steel Report and the Taxonomy of Green Steel. Additionally, India's firm resolve to promote research and development in the sector, coupled with demographic advantages, presents significant opportunities for Japanese investors.

India Joins Countries Banning AI on Govt. Devices

  • Indian Finance Ministry asked employees to stop the use of Artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek for official purposes citing sensitive government data. The ministry repeatedly said the use of such platforms breaches the confidentiality of government documents and data.

Sumita Dawra Chairs a Roundtable on Enhancing Social Security Coverage and Care Support for Women

  • In line with the vision for a Viksit Bharat@2047 – driven by women led development wherein 70% of women engaged in economic activities, laid out in the Union Budget 2025-26, a Roundtable Discussion on providing social security and care support to women was held in New Delhi under the chairpersonship of Ms. Sumita Dawra, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment. Organised in collaboration with UNICEF, the meeting was attended by senior officials from Ministry of Labour & Employment, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and representatives from international organisations (UNICEF, UNDP, ILO, World Bank) and academia (VVGNLI, IEG).

MeitY and IIT Indore Launch AgriHub for Agritech Excellence

  • The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and IIT Indore launched AgriHub, a state-of-the-art AI-driven Centre of Excellence (CoE) aimed at transforming Indian agriculture. AgriHub seeks to address critical challenges in agriculture, such as drought, floods, and low productivity, through the integration of AI, Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL). The initiative will empower farmers, researchers, and agribusinesses by fostering technological innovation, start-up incubation, and industry collaborations.
