LG Electronics to Step Up Development of 6G Network Technology
LG Electronics has joined forces with two other partners to develop next-generation 6G network technology.
LG signed a partnership with Keysight Technologies, a US-based electronics test and measurement firm, and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), South Korea's leading research university.
Under the agreement, the three sides will cooperate in developing technologies related to terahertz, a key frequency band for 6G communications. They target to complete 6G research by 2024. LG said that the 6G network is expected to be commercialised in 2029.
LG established a 6G research centre with KAIST in 2019 and signed an agreement with the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science last year to study 6G technologies.
Keysight Technologies is a major supplier of 6G terahertz test equipment. It has been providing equipment to LG and KAIST's 6G research centre.

Russia Launches 38 Foreign Satellites
Russia has successfully launched 38 foreign satellites for the 18 countries into orbit after the successful launch from Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Though, the launch was delayed due to the technical issues.
These satellites were successfully placed into orbit from the countries including Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Italy, Germany and Brazil. Among the 38 satellites, one was Challenge-1, which is the first satellite indigenously made in Tunisia. It was created by Telnet Telecommunications Group.
The launch of 38 satellites in one go by the Russia is of great significance in the light that, the Russian Space Sector is lagging behind ever since the fall of Soviet Union. It also lagged behind the international competitors because of several by corruption scandals and the technological stagnation. In the year 2018, Russia had launched a Soyuz rocket carrying the Russian cosmonaut and a NASA astronaut. But this mission was failed mid-flight and the crew had to carry out the emergency landing.

ISRO Demonstrates Technology for Quantum Encrypted Data Transmission
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) demonstrated quantum key sharing in free space over a distance of 300 metres for the first time in the country. The demonstration included a live video-conferencing with quantum key encrypted signals between two line-of-sight buildings at Space Application Centre in Ahmedabad.
This experiment can form the basis for a future quantum key encrypted data transmission between satellites and ground stations. A satellite-based quantum encrypted communication can be used to create a network for sharing secret messages.
Quantum cryptography "future proofs" any data transmission as the encryption cannot be cracked by existing computers. The current data security – for sensitive information such as banking – depends on large prime factorisation problems. A present day computer will be able to tell that the prime factors of 6 are 2 and 3 but it would not be able to do so for a number that is big enough.
Indian Astronaut Candidates for Gaganyaan Mission Complete Training
Four Indian officers, who were selected to become astronauts to crew Gaganyaan into orbit, have completed their one-year training course in Russia's Zvyozdny gorodok city near Moscow.
The Gaganyaan mission is aimed at sending astronauts to space in an orbital spacecraft.
The contract for the training of Indian officers was signed between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Russian launch service provider Glavcosmos in June 2019. The four pilots of the Indian Air Force (IAF) include a Group Captain and three Wing Commanders, according to the IAF sources.
The training began on February 10, 2020.

India and France Working on Third Space Mission
India and France are working on the "Third Joint Satellite Mission" at the time when the bilateral space collaboration between both the countries is entering into multiple domains even in the human spaceflight programme.
Several French companies are interested to tap into the opportunities provided by the recent reforms in the space sector by the government. France is also the largest partner of India in Space. ISRO highlighted that, ISRO and French space agency Centre National d'Études Spatiales (CNES) have worked on the two joint missions namely the 'Megha-Tropiques' which was launched in the year 2011 and the 'SARAL-Altika' which was launched in the year 2013.
The officials also highlighted that, the ISRO and CNES have completed the feasibility study in order to realise earth observation satellite mission with the help of thermal infrared imager called "Thermal infraRed Imaging Satellite for High resolution Natural resource Assessment (TRISHNA)". Now both the agencies are working to finalise an implementing arrangement for the joint development. India is also working with the France on joint experiments & accommodation of the scientific instruments with respect to the space missions. Two agencies have also finalised all the interface control documents to accommodate the 'ARGOS' instrument of CNES in the OCEANSAT-3 satellite of ISRO.

World's Largest Floating Solar Farms
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will establish a 'Space Technology Incubation Centre' (S-TIC) at the National Institute of Technology in Rourkela to carry out research and product development in space technology and applications.
The ISRO and NIT signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for setting up the centre which will enable start-ups to build applications and products that could be used in future space missions.
Space technology-related research and the products from the S-TIC will be utilised in future space missions and will help nation building through Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' in space technology and applications domain.
