Campaign For Non-Judgemental Gynaecs Gets Support
Two non-government organisations, Haiyya and Sacchi Saheli, have taken it upon themselves to ensure women receive "health care over stigma".
The campaign aims at motivating doctors, especially gynaecologists, to provide information about sex and sexuality without administering sermons.

NMC To Be Set Up In Six Months: Govt
India will get the National Medical Commission (NMC), that will replace the graft-tainted Medical Council of India (MCI), in the next six months according to Union health minister Harsh Vardhan.
The National Exit Test (NEXT), which will work as the common final-year exit exam for undergraduate medical students, licentiate exam to practise medicine and criteria for admission to postgraduate (PG) medical courses, will be implemented within three years.
It will also be used to screen foreign medical graduates intending to work or study in India. The MCI was dissolved in 2018 following allegations of corruption, and a board of governors constituted to take over its functioning.
The health ministry will soon notify the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act 2019 that received Presidential assent after Parliament cleared it on August 5, 2019.
The 33-member commission will have 29 doctors as members in different capacities. The states will be represented by 19 members. Of them, 10 members will be the vice-chancellors of various universities across states, and nine will belong to various state medical councils.

New paper in biomed engineering in GATE 2020
A new paper Biomedical Engineering (BM) in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is introduced from the year 2020.
This is expected to unify undergraduate syllabus of biomedical engineering among several universities in India.
The BME Sector in India is in need of a major development mainly due to the lack of adequate integration between research institutions, hospitals, industries, and universities in India.
The challenges of BME graduates in India were discussed in a recent meeting held at IIT Madras, which was organized by BME Group of Applied Mechanics Department, IIT Madras, along with representatives from several other IITs.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. V. Jagadeesh Kumar, Dean (Academic Courses), IIT Madras, and co-chaired by Neelesh Vasa who was the GATE Chairman in 2018.
After analysing the issues, it was decided to propose a new GATE paper for BME.Until now, BME graduates could write two papers in GATE: IN (Instrumentation and Engineering), and EC (Electronics and Communication Engineering).
