DBS Clinches Global Accolade for Innovation in Digital Banking

DBS has been honoured as the global winner for Most Innovative in Digital Banking by Financial Times publication, The Banker, in its 2021 Innovation in Digital Banking Awards. The bank was also recognised as the Asia-Pacific winner and won in the Cyber Security category for its Secure Access and Remote Working Solution.
The Banker's Innovation in Digital Banking Awards recognises the most innovative banks across the world for their digital banking initiatives, strategy, and overall commitment to digital transformation. These awards, now in their second year, are the evolution of The Banker's Technology Projects of the Year Awards. DBS is named Asia's Best Bank & Asia's Best Digital Bank in the Euromoney Regional Awards.

Jagdish Bhagwati, C. Rangarajan Conferred with Inaugural Prof CR Rao Centenary Gold Medal

Renowned economist Jagdish Bhagwati and C. Rangarajan have been conferred with the inaugural Prof CR Rao Centenary Gold Medal (CGM). Bhagwati is professor of economics, law and international relations at Columbia University and director of the Raj Center on Indian Economic Policies while C. Rangarajan is the former chairman of the Economic Advisory Council of the Prime Minister and former governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
The Indian Econometric Society (TIES) Trust instituted the award to commemorate the contributions of its professor CR Rao to the quantitative economic theory and practice and also the TIES over the last several decades.
The award will be presented once in two years to an Indian or Indian-origin scholar for her or his lifetime contributions to the fields of theoretical and applied aspects of quantitative economics, and official statistics.

Cyrus Poonawalla Wins Lokmanya Tilak National Award

Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla, Chairman of the Pune-based vaccine maker Serum Institute of India (SII), has been selected for the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award for 2021. He has been named for his work during the COVID-19 pandemic, by manufacturing the Covishield vaccine. He will receive the award on August 13. The award comprises a cash prize of Rs. one lakh and a memento.
The Lokmanya Tilak national award is given annually since 1983 on August 1, the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, by the Lokmanya Tilak Trust. However this year the date has been changed due to the coronavirus situation.
Its recipients include former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr. Manmohan Singh, former President Pranab Mukherjee and Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy, among others.

Anand Radhakrishnan, the Mumbai-based visual artist and illustrator won the prestigious Will Eisner Comic Industry Award — touted as the Oscars of the comic world.
