International Friendship Day

This theme emphasises the importance of creating connections and understanding between people from diverse backgrounds, fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation.

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

  • The 30th of July marks the annual World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, a crucial observance that brings global attention to the ongoing fight against human trafficking.
  • In 2013, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/68/192 designated July 30 as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons and declared that such a day was necessary to raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights.
  • This year's (2024) theme, 'Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking', underscores the urgent need to protect one of society's most vulnerable groups: children.

World Hepatitis Day

  • World Hepatitis Day is observed on July 28 each year to raise awareness about hepatitis, a group of infectious diseases known as hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. This date was chosen to honour the birthday of Dr. Baruch Blumberg, the Nobel Laureate who discovered the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for it.
  • This date was selected to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Baruch Blumberg, the Nobel Laureate and the American doctor; who found the hepatitis B infection (HBV) in the 1960s and found a diagnostic test and vaccine for it.
  • The first community-driven World Hepatitis Day was organised by the 2007-established World Hepatitis Alliance.
  • 'It's time to act' is the theme for World Hepatitis Day 2024.

CRPF Foundation Day

  • On July 27, 1939, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was established as the Crown Representatives Police in response to political turmoil within princely states. It has since evolved into a key central paramilitary force of India, playing a critical role in maintaining internal security. The force was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force on December 28, 1949, following a legislative act, and now operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Kargil Vijay Diwas

  • Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrated every year in July 26, is a significant day in the history of India. It is observed to pay tribute to the bravery of Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country during the Kargil War of 1999.
