36th International Geological Congress Held in New Delhi
The 36th International Geological Congress (IGC), themed "Geosciences: The Basic Science for a Sustainable Future" was held on 20-22 March, 2022 on a virtual platform in New Delhi.
The 36th IGC was a joint endeavour of the Ministry of Mines, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and the Science Academies of Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Described as the Olympics of Geosciences, the IGCs are held quadrennial, under the aegis of the International Union of Geological Congress (IUGS), the Scientific Sponsor of the IGCs. They draw participants to the tune of around 5000 - 7000 delegates from all over the world.
The event provided a unique platform for knowledge and experience sharing in the field of geosciences and professional networking. It gave first-hand information on latest technologies in mining, mineral exploration and management of water, mineral resource and environment. It also facilitated increased academic production and created opportunities for capacity building across geoscientific streams.
International Day of Happiness
International Day of Happiness, also known as World Happiness Day, is celebrated every year on March 20. It is the day when happiness is given the most importance and the significance of being happy is recognised worldwide. This day is also used to spread awareness about the importance of being happy and how happiness affects our life in positive ways. It also urges nations to create a space for the happiness of their citizens.
Before the International Day of Happiness was established, together with Luis Gallardo, President of the World Happiness Foundation, Jayme Illien founded "Happytalism." Illien ran a campaign at the United Nations from 2006 to 2012 to encourage and advance the primacy of happiness, well-being, and democracy.
The International Day of Happiness officially established it in 2012 and first commemorated it in 2013.

CRPF Holds 83rd Raising Day Parade in Jammu
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted its Raising Day parade outside its Delhi headquarters for the first time on March 19 with Union Home Minister Amit Shah taking salute at the march past in Jammu.
Flanked by CRPF Director General Kuldeip Singh, Home Minister handed over gallantry medals to the force personnel and trophies for best establishments in different categories at the event held at the Maulana Azad Stadium in the heart of Jammu city.

Ordnance Factories' Day in India
The Ordnance Factories' Day is observed on the 18th of March every year. The production of India's oldest Ordnance Factory, which is at Cossipore of Kolkata, was started on the 18th of March, 1802. OFB is the 37th largest defence equipment manufacturer in the world, 2nd largest in Asia, and the largest in India.
The day is celebrated by displaying the rifles, guns, artillery, ammunition etc in exhibitions all over India. The celebrations start with a parade and the exhibition will also display the photographs of various mountaineering expeditions.
OFB is referred to as the "Fourth Arm of Defence" and the "Force Behind the Armed Forces" of India.
OFB is functioning under the Department of Defence Production of the Ministry of Defence.
The Indian Ordnance Factories supplies products to all three Indian Armed Forces. ie the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air force.
The Arms and Ammunition, Weapon Spares, Chemicals & Explosives, Parachutes, Leather and Clothing items are being exported to more than 30 countries worldwide.
OFB was founded in 1775 and its Headquarters is in Ayudh Bhawan, Kolkata. OFB consists of 41 Ordnance Factories, 9 Training Institutes, 3 Regional Marketing Centres and 5 Regional Controllerates of Safety, which is spread all over India.

UN Declares March 15 as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia
The U.N. General Assembly approved a resolution to proclaim March 15 as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia every year, starting from 2022. The resolution, adopted by the 193-member UN General Assembly, was introduced by Pakistan's ambassador Munir Akram on behalf of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), on March 15, 2022. It marks the day when a gunman entered two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing 51 worshippers and wounding 40 others in the terror attack.
The resolution, introduced by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was co-sponsored by Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Yemen.
The main objective of International Day to Combat Islamophobia is curtailing systematic hate speech and discrimination against Muslims; respect for religious symbols and practices; along with the elimination of all forms of intolerance and discrimination based on religion or belief.

National Vaccination Day
National Vaccination Day is observed every year on March 16 to convey the significance of vaccination as well as its role in public health. National Vaccination Day 2022 also marks India's victory against Polio disease. Notably, the impact of vaccination is not only limited to improving health or life expectancy, it also has a social or economic impact at the community and the National level.
National Vaccination Day is observed every year on March 16 as it was the first time on this day that the first dose of Oral Polio vaccine was given in India back in 1995.
The theme of National Vaccination Day 2022 was 'Vaccines Work for all'.
