National Small Industry Day

The country observes the National Small Industry Day every year on August 30 to recognise the importance and contribution of the small-scale businesses in India. The small-scale sector plays a key role and is a major growth indicator in the Indian economy. The National Small Industry Day is celebrated across the country to encourage the development and growth of the sector that contributes as much as 40 per cent to the gross industrial value of the country's economy.
The advent of the National Small Industry Day can be traced back to August 2000 when the government formulated a comprehensive policy package for small-scale industries (SSI) in India. On August 30, it was decided by the Ministry of Small-Scale Industries that the very day would be observed as SSI Day.

International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances

International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances is marked every year on August 30 to honour and pay tribute to people who have faced enforced disappearances. Global organisations UN and Amnesty International observe this day to raise awareness about how enforced disappearance is a crime and should not be used as a tool to deal with situations of conflict. According to the UN, more than 6,000 people were registered as missing in Kosovo since 1999. Hence, the resource centre for missing persons in Kosovo has also been initiated by the UN.
On December 21, 2010, the United Nations General Assembly officially proclaimed August 30 as the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.

International Day against Nuclear Tests

Observed by the United Nations (UN) on August 29 annually, the International Day against Nuclear Tests is a day that raises awareness about the devastating effects of testing nuclear weapons. The event urges world governments to end nuclear proliferation and put a stop to such tests. Several countries observe this day by conducting activities such as conferences, lectures, competitions and exhibits. Below, we look at the history and significance of the event.
It was established on December 2, 2009, at the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly by the resolution 64/35, which was adopted unanimously.

National Sports Day or Rashtriya Khel Divas

The National Sports Day or Rashtriya Khel Divas is celebrated on 29th August in India as a tribute to hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand who was born on this date in 1905. It was in 2012 when the day was first designated and celebrated as India's National Sports Day. The nation celebrates the day honouring our sports stars. The President gives away sports awards such as the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, and Dhyan Chand Awards on this occasion.
Rashtriya Khel Diwas OR National Sports Day's primary motto is to promote awareness about the importance of sports and being physically active in the daily life of all the citizens: older or younger.
In 1979, the Indian Postal Department paid tribute to Major Dhyan Chand after his death and renamed the National Stadium of Delhi as Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, Delhi. In 2012, it was announced that a day must be celebrated as National Sports Day with the motive of spreading awareness about the spirit of sportsmanship and propagating the message of various sports. And for this again a tribute was given to Major Dhayan Chand on his birth anniversary and announced on 29th August as National Sports Day in India.

International Dog Day 2022 Celebrates on 26th August

'International Dog Day' is celebrated annually on August 26 to promote the adoption of dogs instead of buying them from pet shops.
The day was founded by Animal Welfare Advocate and Pet Lifestyle expert Collen Paige. The aim of promoting this day is to raise awareness about adopting these animals who are currently in rescue centres.
On this day promote dog ownership of all breeds, pure and mixed. Embrace National Dog Day as an opportunity for all dogs to live a safe, happy and abuse-free life.

Internaut Day Celebrates Ever Year on 23 August

Internaut Day is being celebrated around the world to mark the invention of the World Wide Web. An "internaut" is a person who possesses a thorough knowledge of how to use the Internet and its history.
August 23 marks the day when the World Wide Web was opened to the public back in the year 1991 for the first time by WWW inventor Tim Berners Lee as he allowed its access, CERN announced that the internet would be free to everyone and there would be no fee for its use.

23rd Central Zonal Council Meeting: Union Home Minister Amit Shah led the 23rd Central Zonal Council Meeting in Bhopal. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, and Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, attended the meeting.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, participated virtually due to poor weather.
