Russia Launches Khabarovsk Submarine, Carrier for Poseidon Drone

  • Russia launched its newest nuclear submarine 'Khabarovsk' designed to carry the underwater nuclear drone 'Poseidon', also known as 'doomsday missile', capable of intercontinental travel and immense destruction.
  • The Khabarovsk was ceremonially launched at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk by Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov, in the presence of Russian Naval Chief Admiral Alexander Moiseyev and other top shipbuilding officials. Belousov called it a significant momment for Russia's navy.

  • Raj Kumar Arora assumed the charge of Financial Advisor of Defence Services in November 2025. The Ministry of Defence said that the 1990-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) previously served as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA). He also served as Integrated Financial Advisor in various commands and field offices of the Defence Accounts Department. Furthermore, Arora has vast experience in the areas of accounting, audit, budgeting and personnel management.

Vice Admiral B Sivakumar Assumes Charge as The Chief of Materiel-Indian Navy

  • Vice Admiral B. Sivakumar, AVSM, VSM, assumed the position of the 40th Chief of Materiel on 1 November 2025. He is a distinguished alumnus of the 70th Course at the National Defence Academy and was commissioned as an Electrical Officer in the Indian Navy on July 1, 1987.
  • The Flag Officer holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Chennai, is a postgraduate in Higher Defence Management from Osmania University, MPhil from Madras University and is an alumnus of the National Defence College.
  • During his distinguished and illustrious service of over 38 years, the Flag Officer has held various key appointments in the Naval Headquarters, HQ ATVP, Naval Dockyards and Command Headquarters. He has served onboard frontline warships, Indian Navy ships Ranjit, Kirpan and Akshay, and has commanded the premier Electrical Training Base, INS Valsura.

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived for the 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, where he addressed the forum on 'Reflection on 15 years of ADMM-Plus and Charting the Way Forward'.
  • The ADMM serves as the highest defence consultative and cooperative mechanism within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). ADMM-Plus is a platform for ASEAN member states, which includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam, and its eight Dialogue Partners--India, the US, China, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand--to strengthen security and defence cooperation.

Indian Army to Procure First Indigenous Software�'Defined Radios

India Begins Major Tri-Service Drill along Western Border with Pakistan

  • A major tri-service military exercise, 'Trishul', kicked off on October 30, 2025 along the western border with Pakistan, showcasing the joint operational capability and strategic preparedness of the Indian Army, Navy, and the Air Force.
  • The large-scale drills, being conducted from October 30 to November 10, span across Gujarat and Rajasthan, and are aimed at enhancing interoperability, coordination, and mission readiness among the three Services.
  • The Navy is leading the opening phase of the exercise, followed by the Army in the second phase and the Indian Air Force in the concluding phase. The Border Security Force and the Coast Guard are also participating as auxiliary forces, underscoring the integrated approach to national security.
