Army's Vajra Corps Conduct Mock Exercise on CBRN Disaster Management

  • The Army conducted a two-day exercise at its Jalandhar Cantonment on managing chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear disasters.
  • Exercise Vajra Sahayata, a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) disaster management exercise was conducted by Vajra Corps under the aegis of Western Command headquarters.
  • A tabletop exercise was conducted on October 16, wherein the participating units from the Army and representatives of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Punjab State Civil Administration deliberated on the role, responsibilities, and present and future capability development of all stakeholders.
  • The exercise provided an opportunity for the Army to showcase its reaction and mitigation mechanism in concert with NDRF and the civil administration during such deadly disasters.

Indian Air Force Successfully Tests BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile

Indian Army Wins Gold Medal in Cambrian Patrol 2023 Military Exercise in UK

  • The Indian Army won a gold medal at the Cambrian Patrol Exercise held in the UK while competing against 96 teams representing special forces and regiments from around the world.
  • The 4/5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) represented the Indian Army at the drill held at Brecon, Wales.
  • The event is considered the ultimate test of human endurance and team spirit and is considered the 'Olympics of military patrolling'. The Indian Army team performed well in harsh terrain and inclement weather.
  • The Indian Army team was lauded on its navigation skills, delivery of patrol orders and overall endurance for completing the patrol.
  • This year (2023), only three international patrols out of the 96 participating teams were awarded a gold medal.

  • The Udhampur military station bagged the 'Best Green Military Station' award, the Army said. The Best Green Station Awards were presented by Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande at the Army Commanders' Conference.
  • Dehradun Military Station secured the 'Second Best' award. Also, Bikaner Military Station was awarded with 'Best Transformative Station' trophy.

Defence Ministry Signs Contract for Construction of First Indian Coast Guard Training Ship with M...

  • The Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with state-owned Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) for the construction of a training ship for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) at a cost of Rs. 310 crore.
  • This is the first dedicated training platform with integral helicopter capabilities that will provide basic sea training to 70 Coast Guards and other international under-trainee officers to prepare them on the multi-dimensional maritime aspects of Coast Guard life.
  • This training ship with advanced and modern high-tech surveillance and monitoring systems will provide profound insight and expertise to the ICG cadets on the challenges at sea while ensuring the security of coastline and offshore assets," the Ministry observed. The majority of equipment and systems will be sourced from indigenous manufacturers, including MSMEs.
