Narcotics Control Bureau Observes 41st Raising Day
The Narcotics Control Bureau observed its 41st Raising Day, commemorating over four decades of work against drug trafficking and substance abuse in India. Nationwide youth mobilisation programs for a Drug-Free India were organized at about 40 locations, including Delhi, Lucknow, Jodhpur, Raipur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Ranchi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Agartala. Activities included anti-drug pledges, awareness addresses, rallies, and heritage walks to address health, psychological and legal consequences of drug abuse. The events emphasized collaborations with communities and authorities to strengthen prevention, early warning, and recovery support, reinforcing the agency’s role in national drug policy and enforcement.

Four Major Inland Waterways Projects Worth Rs 526 Crore Launched
Under the Inland Waterways Authority of India, four major projects worth Rs 526 crore were launched to boost Assam’s connectivity. The package includes an elevated road corridor from Pandu Port to NH-27 with an allocation of ₹180 crore, the foundation stone for a cruise terminal at Biswanath Ghat, the Bhoomi Pujan for a Regional Centre of Excellence at Bogibeel, Dibrugarh (₹188 crore), and a second cruise terminal at Neamati. Officials described the projects as critical for boosting tourism, trade and employment, while strengthening the Brahmaputra river corridor. The investments aim to stimulate regional growth and improve freight movement across the northeast.

International Rail Coach Expo 2026 Inaugurated at ICF Chennai
The International Rail Coach Expo (IRCE) 2026 opened on 12 March 2026 at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. The four‑day event runs from 12 to 14 March 2026 and is organized by the ICF in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). U. Subba Rao, General Manager of ICF, inaugurated the expo, which brings together railway manufacturers, technology providers, and industry experts from India and abroad. IRCE showcases innovations in coach design, braking, signaling, safety features, and digital tools for maintenance and operations. National Conference Celebrates Women Leaders Under Sashakt Panchayat-Netri Abhiyan

Delhi gets India’s first fully operational Ring Metro with Pink Line
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new Delhi Metro corridors, marking Delhi’s first fully operational Ring Metro. The Majlis Park–Maujpur–Babarpur Pink Line stretches 12.3 kilometres with eight elevated stations, expanding to 71.56 kilometres and connecting North-East and North-West Delhi. The expansion, part of Phase IV and related GPRA redevelopment initiatives, is expected to ease daily commutes, reduce congestion, and cut pollution. The event also included laying the foundation for three new corridors under Phase V-A (total 16.10 kilometres) and the GPRA Redevelopment Plan, worth around ₹15,200 crore, modernising housing and offices for government staff.

Vir Chakra recipient Lance Havildar K. G. George passes away at 95
Lance Havildar K. G. George (retd.), a Vir Chakra awardee for his actions in the 1965 India–Pakistan War, died in Kerala at the age of 95. The official citation notes his leadership in restoring disrupted communications under heavy shelling in the Wagah Sector from 6 to 10 September 1965, including establishing a line of communication during enemy attacks on the night of 8–9 September. The Vir Chakra is India’s third-highest wartime gallantry honour. George’s family, including his grandson Remo John, confirmed the passing and said relatives in Dubai were traveling home for the funeral.
