Two-time Commonwealth Games champion weightlifter Sanjita Chanu was handed a four-year ban by the National Anti-Doping Agency's (NADA) disciplinary panel for failing a dope test last year (2022).
She had tested positive for an anabolic steroid, Drostanolone Metabolite, that features in the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) prohibited list. Her dope sample was collected on September 30, 2022, during the National Games in Gujarat.
Sanjita's ban commences from November 12, 2022, the date of her provisional suspension.

Indian pugilist Mandeep Jangra won his fourth professional bout by technical knockout over American Ryan Rebar in Milwaukee, USA. The Commonwealth Games silver medallist turned professional in 2020 and now holds a 4-0 record. Haryana's Mandeep was signed up by Jones to fight in the professional circuit for the next three years, becoming the first from the country to team up with the American boxing great. This was Mandeep's first bout under Jones. "I am delighted to start my stint with the great Roy Jones with a victory," said Mandeep, who hails from Kharian village in Sirsa district.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen claimed his first Australian Grand Prix 2023. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton finished second, while Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso filled third spot on the podium. Mumbai Indians debutant Nehal Wadhera hit the first 100-meter plus six of 2023 Indian Premier League season. Wadhera breached the mark during Mumbai Indians' first match of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore at MA Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Wadhera hit RCB's Karn Sharma for back-to-back sixes while the second one landed over the roof. Following the renewal of the partnership, Fino Payments Bank was named the official digital banking partner of RR for IPL 2023.

India's P. V. Sindhu suffered a demoralising straight-game loss against Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the summit clash of the Madrid Spain Masters Super 300 badminton tournament.
Sindhu, who slipped out of the elite top 10 after a series of early exits following her return from a five-month long injury lay-off, looked completely clueless during her 8-21 8-21 demolition at the hands of world number 12 Tunjung at Centro Deportivo Municipal Gallur.

Jaipur to Get India's 2nd Largest Cricket Stadium (02)
Vedanta's Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) signed an MoU with the Rajasthan Cricket Association for the development of the world's third-largest cricket stadium in the village of Chonp in Jaipur. Vedanta's HZL will spend INR 300 crore on the stadium, one of the largest corporate investments in India's sports infrastructure. The stadium would be named as Anil Agarwal International Cricket Stadium, Jaipur.
It is one of the world's largest cricket stadiums with a seating capacity of 75,000, (2nd largest in India and 3rd largest in the world).
The MoU was signed by Bhawani Shankar Samota, Honorary Secretary, Rajasthan Cricket Association and Arun Misra, CEO Hindustan Zinc in the presence of C.P. Joshi, Hon'ble Speaker, Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha and Chief Patron, RCA, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc and Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Ltd. and Vaibhav Gehlot, President, Rajasthan Cricket Association.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger inducted into Premier League Hall of Fame
The Premier League inducted former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger into its Hall of Fame. This is the first time that managers were included in this prestigious list. The two managers had a fierce rivalry during the 1990s, with a combined 16 English top-flight titles to their names. Ferguson led Manchester United to 13 Premier League titles during his 26-year reign, while Wenger won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups with Arsenal during his 22-year tenure. The Premier League Hall of Fame was launched in 2021 to honour players who have made an exceptional contribution to the league.
Shakib Al Hasan Becomes the Top T20I Wicket-taker
Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan surpassed Tim Southee and became the leading wicket-taker in the T20I format.
According to data from International Cricket Council (ICC), Shakib has 136 wickets in 114 T20I matches. On the other hand, Tim Southee has 134 wickets just two shy of Shakib's tally.
Shakib claimed this record by picking up a five-wicket haul against Ireland.
