Govt. Introduces Vishvasya-Blockchain Technology Stack

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) launched a series of blockchain-based solutions, aimed at enhancing transparency, security, and efficiency in digital service delivery.
The Vishvasya-Blockchain Technology Stack is designed to offer Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) with a geographically distributed setup to support a range of permissioned blockchain applications.
The stack is hosted across NIC Data Centers in Bhubaneswar, Pune, and Hyderabad, ensuring robust and scalable service delivery.
The government also introduced the NBFLite-Lightweight Blockchain Platform and Praamaanik, a blockchain-enabled solution for verifying the origin of mobile apps.
NBFLite is tailored for start-ups and academia to prototype blockchain applications, conduct research, and develop capacity. It was developed in collaboration with organizations such as C-DAC, NIC, IIT Hyderabad, and SETS Chennai.

Europe Launches Last Vega Rocket with Observation Satellite

Europe's Arianespace launched the last Vega rocket, placing the Sentinel-2C satellite into orbit under the European Union's Copernicus programme to monitor Earth's environment.
The rocket, which does not have boosters strapped to its side unlike larger vehicles streaked into the night sky from a launch base in French Guiana.
The launch ended a 12-year career for the small launch vehicle, designed by Italy's Avio (AVI.MI), opens new tab. It is being replaced by the updated Vega C, which is due to return to service later this year (2024) after being grounded following a launch failure with the loss of two powerful imaging satellites in December 2022.

During Reliance Industries' 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced a groundbreaking development in the field of artificial intelligence. The company's telecom arm, Reliance Jio, is set to launch a comprehensive suite of AI tools and applications called 'Jio Brain'.
Jio Brain is designed to cover the entire artificial intelligence lifecycle, offering a range of tools and applications for businesses and enterprises. This innovative platform aims to integrate Jio's 5G network capabilities with advanced machine learning technologies.
Key Features include:
5G Integration: Jio Brain leverages the high speed and low latency of 5G networks to enhance AI capabilities.
Edge Computing: The platform can train and apply ML models at the network edge and in the service provider cloud.
Pre-built Algorithms: Out-of-the-box algorithms are available for immediate use, eliminating the need for businesses to develop, train, or maintain their own.

Google DeepMind's Morni AI to Cover 125 Indic Languages

Google DeepMind's India unit is working on an Indic language artificial intelligence project called Morni (Multimodal Representation for India), with an aim to cover 125 Indian languages and dialects.
"So, India has 22 scheduled languages, which are viewed as official languages. But in our work, we are targeting over 100 Indian languages, because we find that there are 60 Indian languages which have over a billion speakers and over 125 languages that have over a lakh speakers each," said Manish Gupta, director at Google DeepMind, Google India.

Infosys and NVIDIA Revolutionise Telecom with GenAI Solutions

Infosys expanded its partnership with NVIDIA to develop generative AI solutions tailored for telecom operators.
Utilising NVIDIA's NIM inference micro-services, NeMo Retriever models, NeMo Guardrails, and Riva.
Infosys aims to enhance telecommunication operations and customer service. Early results show significant improvements in latency and accuracy.
The AI solutions have also incorporated NVIDIA Riva to enable real-time transcription and translations for call center agents. According to a regulatory filing, these advancements aim to enhance productivity, make networks smarter, and improve customer service for telecoms.

Salsa European Satellite Set to Re-Enter Earth after 24 Years

After 24 years of providing valuable data on Earth's magnetic shield, the European Space Agency's (ESA) satellite named 'Salsa' is set to re-enter the atmosphere on September 8. Launched in 2000, Salsa was part of the groundbreaking Cluster mission, a constellation of four satellites investigating the sun-earth connection. Next month, it will be the first of the four Cluster satellites to make its fiery descent back to Earth, re-entering the atmosphere over the South Pacific.

Astronomers Discover Object 500 Trillion Times Brighter than the Sun

Astronomers have discovered the brightest object ever observed in the universe. Using the European Southern Observatory's (ESO) Very Large Telescope (VLT), astronomers identified a quasar described as the 'brightest of its kind' and the 'most luminous object ever observed'.
This newly discovered quasar is not only record-breaking in brightness but is also rapidly growing, a characteristic of the brightest quasars in the galaxy. The study notes that this quasar, named J0529-4351, is growing at a rate equivalent to one sun per day and is over 500 trillion times brighter than the sun.
