NCERT Launches Modules on India's Space Journey and ISRO's Key Milestones

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) rolled out two new educational modules titled 'India: A Rising Space Power', designed to showcase the country's remarkable progress in space science and technology.
Aimed at middle- and secondary-level students, the modules trace India's journey from the modest days of transporting rockets on bicycles and bullock carts in the 1960s to today's status as a cost-effective leader in global space exploration, with achievements like Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1. Illustrated with timelines, photographs, and diagrams, the modules aim to make India's space story accessible and engaging for students.

Kerala Becomes India's First 100% Digitally Literate State

Kerala Chief Minister declared the state as India's first fully digitally literate state, achieving a significant milestone under the Digi Kerala project. This recognition marks not only the completion of Phase I of the initiative but also Kerala's leadership in bridging the digital divide through grassroots participation and inclusive training.
Kerala's digital literacy drive was built on community-centric implementation, ensuring maximum coverage and inclusiveness.

NCERT Introduces Operation Sindoor Modules

National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) unveiled new curriculum modules on Operation Sindoor, calling it a 'saga of courage' and a transformative moment in India's military and political response to terrorism. The modules are designed for Classes 3 to 12, narrating the events leading to and following the May 2025 precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The operation was named 'Sindoor', symbolising solidarity with the widows of the victims. Sindoor, traditionally worn by married Hindu women, was chosen to represent empathy, unity, and a vow to uphold national dignity.

Lok Sabha Passes Bill to Establish IIM Guwahati in Assam

The Lok Sabha passed the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025, paving the way for the establishment of a new Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Guwahati, Assam. The move represents a major stride in expanding premier management education to the north-eastern region of India, fulfilling a long-standing regional demand.

India's First Private Mathematics Research Institute Comes in Mumbai

India's first privately funded mathematics research institute was launched in Mumbai. The Lodha Mathematical Sciences Institute (LMSI) was inaugurated in the presence of global dignitaries from the field of mathematics, including Dr. Manjul Bhargava, the first Indian-origin winner of the Fields Medal.
The Lodha Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Lodha Group, has backed the initiative with a major endowment. Last year (2024), the Lodha family donated about Rs. 20,000 crore to the foundation to support education and research initiatives. The LMSI is the first project to come from this donation.
The institute will be headed by Dr. V Kumar Murty, a mathematician with significant contributions to number theory and arithmetic geometry. He had earlier served as director of the Fields Institute and professor at the University of Toronto.

IIT Kharagpur announced the launch of a new facility, the School for Skills: Healthcare and Technology, designed to provide specialised healthcare training to rural and semi-urban youth.
The initiative aims to prepare allied health professionals who can strengthen community-level healthcare delivery across India.
The programme has been structured to give students both academic instruction and practical exposure.

IIT Bhubaneswar, Tata Steels Sign MoU to Launch TomorrowLAB Accelerator Programme for Start-ups

Tata Steel signed an MoU with IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park (IIT BBSR REP) and India Accelerator (IA) to jointly launch a 6-month-long TomorrowLAB Accelerator Programme for emerging startups. This programme will go live in September 2025 and aims to empower start-ups, offering a tailored environment that nurtures their growth, facilitates industry connections, and accelerates their journeys.
TomorrowLAB Accelerator Programme is planned to foster innovation and bridge the gap between academia and industry, and create a dynamic environment for startups to thrive while providing valuable resources and mentorship to turn entrepreneurial ideas into viable and sustainable businesses.
