The World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI)-2023 acknowledged Lovely Professional University (LPU) ahead of the world's top Harvard & Oxford universities, in one of its global ranking lists. Evaluating participating universities globe in six categories; LPU was ranked 12th; the Ivy League University Harvard 23rd; and, Oxford of the UK 37th in the 'Fourth Industrial Revolution' category.
Securing a global band of 101-200, LPU is counted explicitly among various top Ivy League universities in the US, including Harvard, Cornell, Pennsylvania; UK; Germany; Canada; Australia; China; Korea; Sweden.
IIM Lucknow, Emeritus Launch New 'Executive Programme in Data-Driven Product Management'
Effective product management is one of the key drivers of a business, and data holds the potential to turbo-charge this to the next level. In order to prepare the next generation of product management professionals, the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) along with Emeritus, launched their first-of-its-kind Executive Programme in Data-Driven Product Management. The programme is India's only executive education programme to link product management with data analytics and design thinking.
The 8-month programme is aimed at empowering professionals with about 5-10 years of work experience to transition into data-driven product management.
It is aimed at product analysts, product managers, future product leaders, sales managers, business developers aiming to transition into product management roles, software developers, tech professionals, data scientists, UX engineers, and architects keen to enter data-driven product management roles, as well as entrepreneurs and small business owners building innovative products.
British Council and Microsoft Partner to Boost Job Prospects for Young Indians
The British Council, the UK's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural exchange and Microsoft India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a co-developed three-year partnership programme, 'English Skills for Youth'.
The programme aims to enhance the life opportunities of young people, aged 18-25, particularly women, in socio-economically marginalised communities across India.
The primary objective of the 'English Skills for Youth' project is to enhance employability opportunities for the youth. Microsoft and the British Council have co-developed this programme to impart one of the most in-demand skills – English language– to students.

TOEFL iBT Approved for Canada's Higher Learning Institutions
The Educational Testing Service (ETS) announced that the TOEFL iBT test has been approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for use in Canada's Student Direct Stream (SDS).
SDS is an expedited study permit processing programme for those international students who plan to enroll in one of Canada's post-secondary designated learning institutions.
In addition to TOEFL iBT, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) test has also been approved for Canada's SDS scheme.

IIT Gandhinagar and VIPS-TC Forge Partnership to Drive Technological Advancements in IT
The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) and Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies Technical Campus (VIPS-TC) signed of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at fostering innovation, academic excellence, and research collaboration in the field of Information Technology and related disciplines. This landmark collaboration is set to create significant opportunities for students, faculty members, and researchers from both institutions.
The MoU was signed between Professor Rajat Moona, Director, IIT Gandhinagar, and Mr Vineet Vats, Vice-Chairman, VIPS-TC in the presence of Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sharma, Director General VIPS-TC, Suneet Vats, Vice Chairman VIPS-TC and Ajay Bindal, Vice Chairman, VIPS-TC.
This MoU aims to facilitate administrative support, improving or initiating new Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral programmes at VIPS-TC, internships programmes, special training programmes, faculty support, guidance in infrastructure development, and joint organisation of seminars, conferences, workshops on topics of mutual interest.
The collaboration will create a unique opportunity for faculty members and students from both institutions to work together on cutting-edge technological advancements and address the emerging challenges in the IT sector.
Assam Higher Secondary Education Council to Introduce Bodo as Medium of Instruction for Arts Courses
The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) issued a notification to introduce Bodo as a medium of instruction for Higher Secondary Arts courses from the academic year 2023-24.
In the notification, AHSEC said that institutions willing to offer a Bodo medium of instruction to students are required to intimate it immediately.
History, Geography, Education, Logic and Philosophy, Economics, Political Science, Environmental Education, Mathematics and Swadesh Adhyayan are the subjects for which Bodo medium of instruction has been introduced.

Odisha Govt. Collaborates with Infosys, NASSCOM
The Odisha Government's Higher Education Department entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Infosys Limited and NASSCOM to enhance the skills and employability of students in Higher Education Institutions in Odisha. This collaboration aims to provide learning and employment opportunities for students and promote equal access to education for passionate individuals, equipping them for the future.
Infosys, in line with its ESG Vision 2030, has set a goal to enable digital skills on a large scale and empower more than 10 million people across India from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds by 2025 through its programme called Infosys Springboard.
Infosys Springboard intends to offer a wide range of courses developed in partnership with renowned digital education providers such as Coursera, Skillsoft, Techademy, Knolskape, and Harvard Business Publishing. It also includes a learning portal, specialised resources, and expert mentors to empower women and students from rural areas, promoting their holistic development. The programme fully aligns with India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Under this MoU, NASSCOM will provide training to 800,000 students through their future skills prime program. The collaboration focuses on developing technical expertise across various disciplines, promoting digital fluency, and delivering industry-curated content. It offers a comprehensive career-building programme that leads to industry-recognised Nasscom certifications.

IIT Madras Launches 15 Centres of Excellence
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) unveiled 15 Centres of Excellence (CoE) under the 'Institute of Eminence' (IoE) Scheme. These centres are dedicated to pioneering research, aiming to develop technologies with a global reach. The IoE Scheme, initiated by the Government of India, empowers higher educational institutions to transform into world-class teaching and research establishments. IIT Madras was selected as an IoE in 2019 and has since established numerous research initiatives across various fields.
IIT Madras had identified 68 research initiatives across 21 technology clusters in diverse fields in Phase I. Out of these, the experts shortlisted 15 Centres of Excellence within the IIT Madras system alongside 23 Research Centres and 10 Research Projects in Phase II. This selection was done by conducting an extensive and rigorous review process.
