15k Cap may be Relaxed for New Pension Scheme
The government will make the income eligibility criterion flexible for its mega pension scheme announced in the interim budget so that beneficiaries remain in the fold even if their monthly incomes rise above the current cap of Rs.15,000.
The scheme, which intends to cover 100 million labourers from the unorganised sector, including domestic helps, street vendors, rickshaw-pullers and farm workers, was announced by Union finance minister Piyush Goyal in the interim budget.
The social security scheme, Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan, will give Rs.3,000 every month to beneficiaries after they attain the age of 60.
Since it is limited to workers whose monthly income is up to Rs.15,000, there were some apprehensions that it would exclude several beneficiaries if their monthly income crosses the limit at some point during their working lives.

States to Codify Innovations in Education
The Niti Aayog has begun an initiative under which states will discuss and codify their best practices and innovations in education so they can learn from each other.
On January 29, the government think tank held its first workshop in which Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and other states shared measures they took to bring about a systemic transformation in education.
Under the Saksham scheme, the Haryana government had introduced a system of remedial classes for weak students unable to grapple with the curriculum.
In Rajasthan, where there were several schools with just a couple of teachers and a few dozen students, the state government merged them to create integrated schools having better resources.
