Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital Wins 'Best Scientific Poster Award' 2024

Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital's research team has been honoured with the prestigious 'Best Scientific Poster Award' at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). The award-winning study focused on 'The efficacy of RevitalVision vision-training software in improving best-corrected vision in stable keratoconus patients post Crosslinking surgery.'
The research was led by ophthalmologists Prof. Lional Raj and Prof. David Heber from Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital in Tirunelveli.
The prospective controlled, randomized study demonstrated remarkable clinical outcomes, offering new hope for patients suffering from keratoconus.

Prestigious John Dirks Gairdner Global Health Award for Dr. Gagandeep Kang

Dr. Gagandeep Kang, Director of Global Health at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has been selected for the prestigious John Dirks Award in global health. It is the most well-recognised global health award. When contacted, Dr. Kang told The Indian Express it means a lot especially as "it acknowledges the recognition of science we engage in". "It feels great as the science we do has been recognised. This does not happen very often," Dr Kang said when contacted in the US.
The John Dirks Award in global health is awarded by the Gairdner Foundation in Canada. The awards were announced on Thursday and Dr Kang's initial reaction was one of surprise. "There are so many people doing outstanding work in global health. So to have the work my colleagues and I have done in India is recognition of our contributions to the health of children in India and assesses our efforts and the resulting impact," Dr Kang said.
She is the first Indian woman to get this award and says it is a huge honour for all the work that she and her colleagues did while at Christian Medical College, Vellore. The focus of Dr Kang's work has been on childhood diarrhoea disease and comprehensive studies, including the work on vaccines. Dr Kang previously was a Professor at the Department of Gastrointestinal Science at CMC, Vellore and later executive director of the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, Faridabad. After her superannuation from CMC, Dr Kang continues to work on diarrhoea in children and making better vaccines. She also became the first Indian woman to be elected Fellow of the Royal Society.

Neeraj Sharma receives "Medal of Honour" at Consular Day 2024

The award was presented at the ITC Grand Chola by HCCD-India in Chennai, for his exemplary efforts in promoting bilateral relations between Palau and India. The award was presented by Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi. Established in 1995, HCCD-India aims to promote mutual understanding among Honorary Consular officers in India and abroad.

India's Chandrayaan-3 Mission Team Given 2024 John L. 'Jack' Swigert Jr. Award

Chandrayaan-3 was the first to land on the uncharted South Pole region of the Moon. In recognition of this groundbreaking accomplishment, the Chandrayaan-3 team has been honored with the prestigious 2024 John L. 'Jack' Swigert Jr. Award for Space Exploration.
The award, presented by the Space Foundation during the annual Space Symposium in Colorado, acknowledges the extraordinary achievements of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Chandrayaan-3 team in the realm of space exploration and discovery.
Chandrayaan-3, launched by ISRO in July 2023, comprised a lander named Vikram and a rover called Pragyan. On August 23, 2023, the mission made history when Vikram successfully touched down on the lunar surface at the South Pole, an area that had remained unexplored by previous missions.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s Chandrayaan-3 mission team has been awarded the 2024 John L. "Jack" Swigert, Jr. Award for Space Exploration by the US-based Space Foundation. This prestigious award is given to recognize the remarkable achievements of a space agency, company, or consortium in the realm of space exploration and discovery.
The Chandrayaan-3 mission, launched by ISRO on July 14, 2023, was a groundbreaking achievement for India. The mission consisted of a lander named Vikram and a rover named Pragyan, and it successfully landed at the unexplored south pole of the moon on August 23, 2023. This made India the first country in the world to land a lunar module at the south pole of the moon.
The Space Foundation, in presenting the John L. "Jack" Swigert, Jr. Award for Space Exploration to the Chandrayaan-3 team, recognized the exceptional technical and engineering achievements of the mission. The Foundation highlighted the unquestioned leadership and ingenuity of the people of India in the global space ecosystem, showcasing their remarkable contribution to space exploration.
The John L. "Jack" Swigert, Jr. Award for Space Exploration was instituted by the Space Foundation in 2004, in memory of John L. "Jack" Swigert, Jr., who was part of NASA's Apollo 13 mission to the moon. The mission was aborted due to a leakage in the spacecraft's oxygen tank, but Swigert's quick thinking and problem-solving skills helped the crew safely return to Earth.

GAIL Wins 15th CIDC Vishwakarma Award for Barauni - Guwahati Pipeline

GAIL (India) Limited was honoured with the prestigious 15th CIDC Vishwakarma Award in the 'Achievement Award for Best Construction Projects' category for its remarkable accomplishment in the Barauni – Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline project (BGPL). The project, an integral component of the Jagdishpur – Haldia & Bokaro – Dhamra Pipeline project, marked a significant milestone by connecting North-East India to the National Gas Grid for the first time.
The Barauni – Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline project spans 718 km and serves as a pivotal conduit for delivering environmentally friendly natural gas to the entire North-East region through the Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL). Notably, the project caters to prominent customers such as IOCL refineries at Guwahati and Bongaigaon, as well as nine Geographical Areas for City Gas Distribution across Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam.
The CIDC Vishwakarma Awards, inspired by the ethos of construction excellence embodied by Lord Vishwakarma, celebrate and incentivize individuals and organizations to elevate their performance and make significant contributions to the Indian construction industry's growth and development.
