International Honour for Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming

The Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) program, led by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, was awarded the prestigious Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity 2024. The announcement was made by Angela Merkel, chair of the Jury and former Federal Chancellor of Germany, during a ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal. The event was attended by dignitaries including the President of Portugal and other government officials, alongside experts from around the world.
The Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF), a state-wide program of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, was recognised for its significant contributions to global food security, climate resilience, and ecosystem protection. This initiative specifically supports smallholder farmers, with a focus on empowering predominantly women farmers.

Indian Ship Captain, Crew Win "Exceptional Bravery" Awards For Red Sea Rescue Mission

Captain Avhilash Rawat and his crew of an oil tanker were named among the winners of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) 2024 Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea for their "extraordinary courage" shown in a Red Sea rescue mission.
Rawat and his crew were declared winners by the IMO for the "determination and endurance" demonstrated while coordinating firefighting and damage control efforts to combat a fire that broke out after an anti-ship missile reportedly fired by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels struck their vessel 'Marlin Luanda' earlier this year (2024).

PM Modi Receives Russia's Highest Civilian Honour for Outstanding Service

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ceremoniously presented with the Order of St Andrew the Apostle the First-Called, which was bestowed on him in the year 2019 at St Catherine's Hall of the Moscow Kremlin. The order was presented to the Prime Minister of India for his distinguished contribution to the development of a privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India and friendly ties between the two countries.
The Order of St Andrew the Apostle the First-Called is Russia's highest civilian honour, This prestigious award, established in 1698 by Tsar Peter the Great, is only granted for the most exceptional civilian or military service to Russia.
The order is named after Saint Andrew, who is revered as the first apostle of Jesus and is considered the patron saint of Russia. Its rich history and selective bestowal make it a symbol of the highest recognition in Russian society and international relations.

HCLTech's Roshni Nadar Malhotra Receives France's Highest Civilian Honour

Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of IT services firm HCLTech, was conferred with the 'Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur' (Knight of the Legion of Honour), the highest civilian award of France.
The award, which recognises outstanding service to France, regardless of recipient's nationality, was instituted in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte.
The award, conferred for outstanding service to France, recognised Nadar Malhotra's business and sustainability contributions and efforts to promote economic ties between France and India.

Maharashtra Wins Best Agriculture State Award for 2024

The 15th Agriculture Leadership Awards Committee announced that Maharashtra won the Best Agriculture State Award for 2024. The announcement was made by the committee headed by Justice P. Sathasivam, former Chief Justice of India and Governor of Kerala.
Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, receive the award at a function in New Delhi.
Maharashtra secured this prestigious award due to its innovative agricultural and rural initiatives. The state government's policies and high-impact developmental projects have significantly contributed to agricultural and rural prosperity.
