Journalist Dhanya Rajendran to Receive Chameli Devi Jain Award for 2022

Dhanya Rajendran of The News Minute was declared the winner of the Chameli Devi Jain Award for an Outstanding Woman Media person for 2022, the Media Foundation announced.
Bengaluru-based Rajendran is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of digital news platform The News Minute.
A three-member jury comprising Nirmal Pathak, Editor, PTI Bhasha, columnist Nidhi Razdan, and Harish Damodaran, National Rural Affairs and Agriculture Editor, The Indian Express, agreed that Rajendran's work "showed a blend of meticulous reportage and data reflecting not only individual merit, but the pursuit of committed journalism".

RBI Governor Das Gets the 'Governor of the Year' Award for 2023

Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das awarded the 'Governor of the Year' award for 2023 by the international publication Central Banking for captaining the financial markets through the turbulent periods of the pandemic and the crippling impact of the Ukraine war.
Former governor Raghuram Rajan was the first to be conferred the title back in 2015 from the country.
The Central Banking Publications is a financial publisher specialising in public policy and financial markets, with an emphasis on central banks, and international financial institutions.

INS Dronacharya to Get President's Colour, Highest Military Unit Honour

INS Dronacharya, the Gunnery School of the Indian Navy in Kochi, Kerala, was awarded the prestigious President's Colour by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
The President's Colour or the Nishan is considered the highest honour that the Supreme Commander, President of India, bestows on a unit for its exceptional service to the Nation.
INS Dronacharya is entrusted with the training of officers and sailors of the Navy, Coast Guard and friendly foreign maritime forces on all aspects of gunnery and missile warfare.
INS Dronacharya was designated as the Centre for Excellence in Gunnery and Missile Warfare in 2004.
The unit is affiliated with the Indian Army School of Artillery in the spirit of jointmanship.

Gyan Chaturvedi Selected for Vyas Samman 2022 for 'Pagalkhana'

Noted Hindi writer Gyan Chaturvedi's 2018 satirical novel, 'Pagalkhana', was selected for the 32nd Vyas Samman, 2022.
Instituted by the KK Birla Foundation in 1991, the annual Vyas Samman is given to an outstanding Hindi literary work by an Indian citizen published during the last 10 years. It carries an award money of Rs. 4 lakh.
After considering the works published during 2012-2021, a selection committee headed by eminent litterateur Prof Ramji Tiwari picked Dr Chaturvedi's Pagalkhana (mental asylum) for the Vyas Samman.
Having started his writing career in 1970s, Chaturvedi received India's fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri in 2015. He also won the Madhya Pradesh government's Sharad Joshi Samman for outstanding achievement in the field of satire and essay, besides the Delhi Academy Award and the Indu Sharma International Katha Samman.

Award in Memory of Navy's 1971 War Hero Mulla

An award was instituted in the memory of Navy Capt Mahendra Nath Mulla, who was decorated with Mahavir Chakra for gallantry during the 1971 Bangladesh liberation war.
The award, which has a rolling trophy and a cash award of Rs. 1.50 lakh, was instituted for students of Navy Children School, Delhi.
Named 'Capt MN Mulla, MVC, Memorial Outstanding Student Award', the award will be given to a boy and a girl "selected on the basis of clarity of vision, courage of conviction and commitment".
Ameeta Mulla Wattal and Anjali Kaul, daughters of Capt Mulla, instituted the award.

Oscars 2023 took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Best Picture - Everything Everywhere All At Once, Best Actress - Michelle Yeoh - Everything Everywhere All at Once, Best Actor - Brendan Fraser – The Whale, Best Director - Daniel Kwan and Daniel Schienert – Everything Everywhere All at Once, Best Original Song - Naatu Naatu – RRR and Best Documentary (Short Subject) - The Elephant Whisperers.
The 1st Academy Awards were held in 1929 at a private dinner hosted by Douglas Fairbanks in The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
A total of 3,140 Oscar statuettes have been awarded since its inception in 1929 (as in 2023).

Sir David Chipperfield Selected as the 2023 Laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize

Civic architect, urban planner and activist, Sir David Alan Chipperfield was selected as the 2023 Laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the award that is regarded internationally as architecture's highest honour. Chipperfield's storied career spans more than 40 years and includes 100-plus projects, ranging from civic, cultural, and academic buildings to residences and urban master planning throughout Asia, Europe, and North America. His built works, spanning over four decades, are expansive in typology and geography, including over one hundred works ranging from civic, cultural and academic buildings to residences and urban masterplanning throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
The Pritzker Architecture Prize established by the Hyatt Foundation in 1979, the annual award honours architects whose built work demonstrates a combination talent, vision, and commitment. Last year, Francis Kéré became the first black architect to win the prize, while 2021 saw Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal honoured for their collaborative practice.
