Veteran Journalist S. Jayachandran Nair Passes Away

Renowned writer and senior journalist S. Jayachandran Nair, known for redefining Malayalam magazine journalism with a focus on literature and culture, passed away at the age of 85.
Nair authored numerous books, including his autobiography 'Ente Pradakshina Vazhikal,' which won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2012.
His work 'Mounaprararthana Pole,' a study of filmmaker G. Aravindan, won the National Award for Best Book on Cinema in 2018.
Nair received several accolades, including the K. Balakrishnan Memorial Award, M. V. Pylee Journalism Award, and the C. H. Mohammed Koya Award.
Born in Sreevaraham in Thiruvananthapuram district, Nair began his career with the Kaumudi weekly under the editorship of K Balakrishnan.
He later worked with Malayalarajyam, Kerala Janatha, and Kerala Kaumudi.
In 1975, he joined Kalakaumudi Weekly as associate editor and later became its editor.
In 1997, when the New Indian Express Group launched Samakalika Malayalam Weekly, he became its editor, holding the position until 2013.

Renowned Botanist K. S. Manilal Dies

Eminent botanist and Padma Shri awardee K. S. Manilal, celebrated for translating the ancient Latin text "Hortus Malabaricus" into English and Malayalam, passed away at the age of 86.
Manilal, was a former head of the Department of Botany at the University of Calicut.
His decades-long contributions to botany, particularly his efforts to translate Hortus Malabaricus, a 17th century botanical treatise documenting the rich flora of Malabar region (south-western coast of India) into English and Malayalam, earned him widespread recognition.

Kaamya Karthikeyan: Youngest Female to Conquer Seven Summits

Kaamya Karthikeyan, a 17-year-old student from Navy Children School in Mumbai, etched her name in history by becoming the youngest female in the world to conquer the Seven Summits. This remarkable achievement includes scaling the highest peaks across all seven continents. Kaamya, an avid adventurer since her childhood, completed this prestigious feat by summiting Mount Vinson in Antarctica in December 2024. This accomplishment highlights her determination, resilience, and passion for mountaineering.
Climbed Peaks: Africa: Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Europe: Mount Elbrus (Russia), Australia: Mount Kosciuszko (Australia), South America: Mount Aconcagua (Argentina), North America: Mount Denali (USA), Asia: Mount Everest (Nepal) and Antarctica: Mount Vinson (Antarctica).
At age 16, Kaamya became the youngest Indian to scale Mount Everest.
Her mountaineering journey started at the age of 7, when she first trekked in Uttarakhand.

Jimmy Carter, 39th U.S. President Dies

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away at the age of 100 in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. Known for his strong moral values, humanitarian work, and pivotal role in the Camp David Accords, Carter's presidency faced challenges, including an economic recession and the Iran hostage crisis. Despite his one-term presidency, Carter later gained respect for his global peace efforts, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
He was elected as the 39th U.S. President in 1976 after defeating Gerald Ford.
His presidency faced economic challenges, including high inflation, interest rates, and the Iran hostage crisis.
Key achievement: The Camp David Accords (1978), securing peace between Israel and Egypt.

Pharmed Ltd Chairman Emeritus Krishan Kumar Aurora Passes Away

Pharmed Limited and BioPlus Group announced that its chairman emeritus Krishan Kumar Aurora passed away at the age of 88.
Aurora's career spanned more than six decades. After graduating from Bombay University, he began his professional journey as an accountant with AF Fergusons, before moving on to Boots Pure Drug Co. (India) Ltd In 1961, he started his career with Smith Kline & French (India) Ltd, eventually rising to the role of Managing Director and later becoming International Vice President for Southeast Asia.
In 1990, Aurora took over Pharmed Limited, transforming it into a trusted and respected name in the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry.
