Taiwan named senior diplomat Baushuan Ger as its new representative to India while his predecessor Tien Chung-kwang has been promoted to the post of Deputy Foreign Minister.
Baushuan's appointment was part of personnel changes announced by Taiwan's foreign ministry. Tien served as Taiwan's representative to India for more than seven years.
Baushuan is expected to take up his post in India in September. He is currently director general of the department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs in Taiwan's foreign ministry and has served in the US and the UK.
Tien will replace Hsu Szu-chien as Deputy Foreign Minister. Hsu has been appointed as deputy secretary-general of Taiwan's National Security Council.
Advisory Committee on Mutual Funds under the Chairmanship of Usha Thorat
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities and commodity market in India, has reconstituted the committee advising it on matters related to regulation and development of the mutual fund industry by including five new members.
The new 20 member committee will be chaired by Usha Thorat, former Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The previous 15 members panel that formed in 2013 was headed by Janki Ballabh, former Chairman of SBI.

Cognizant India Chairman Ramkumar Ramamoorthy Resigns
Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, Chairman and Managing Director at Cognizant India resigned after 22 years in the company.
In a major reshuffle, Cognizant also replaced the head of global delivery Pradeep Shilige and brought in former Accenture executive Andy Stafford as the new head of delivery.
Ramamoorthy, who was elevated as the Chairman last year (2019), is the latest among the series of top level exits Cognizant has seen in the last one year.
The Teaneck, New Jersey-headquartered IT services firm has over 200,000 employees in India.
Rajesh Verma New Chairman of IEPFA
The government appointed corporate affairs secretary, Rajesh Verma, as the chairman of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA).
The appointment was a routine change following Verma's appointment as MCA secretary after Injeti Srinivas retired from the MCA post in April. The post of the chairman of the IEPFA is held by whoever is the current MCA secretary.
As per the notification, Anil K. Sharma, executive director of the Reserve Bank of India, P. S. Narasimha, senior advocate and Gopal V. Kumar, actuary and economist, were also appointed as members of the IEPFA.
The IEPFA was established in September 2016 to make refunds of shares, unclaimed dividends, matured deposits/debentures from the Investor Education Protection Fund to investors and to promote awareness among investors.

Ivory Coast PM, Presidential Candidate Amadou Coulibaly Dies
Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly, the presidential candidate of Ivory Coast's ruling party, died just days after returning from two months of medical treatment in France, where he previously had undergone a heart transplant.
Mr. Coulibaly's death throws the upcoming presidential election into disarray, raising concerns about who now will represent the party of President Alassane Ouattara, who is required to step down after his second term.
Mr. Ouattara's party has been in power since post-election violence a decade ago left some 3,000 people dead after then-President Laurent Gbagbo refused to acknowledge his defeat in a runoff vote.
Initially, there was speculation that Mr. Ouattara would try to extend his rule, but he eventually said he would not run and threw his support behind Mr. Coulibaly.
Veteran Actor Jagdeep Passes Away
Veteran actor-comedian Jagdeep, best known for his role as Soorma Bhopali in "Sholay" passed away. He was 81.
The actor, real name Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, was not keeping well.
Jagdeep appeared in around 400 films but it is his role as Soorma Bhopali in 1975 film "Sholay" that is etched in audiences' minds even today.
He also played memorable roles in "Purana Mandir" and in "Andaz Apna Apna" as Salman Khan's father.
Better known by his stage name Jagdeep, the actor also directed the movie "Soorma Bhopali" with his character as the protagonist.

Ennio Morricone, Italian Composer Passed Away
Two times Oscar winner, Ennio Morricone, Italian Composer passed away at the age of 91 in Campus Bio-Medico, a clinic in Rome, Italy, where he was admitted due to a broken femur. He was born on 10th November 1928 in Rome, Italy.
At the age of 12 he joined Rome's conservatory and started studying trumpet and later joined the orchestra of Academy of Santa Cecilia.
He worked for theatres and radios and worked with Italy's popular pop stars from 1950s to 1960s.
He got his first credit for the feature film, Il Federale in 1961.
He worked as a composer for 500 films, television programmes, songs and orchestras.
He became famous through his scores for Spaghetti Westerns starring Clint Eastwood directed by Sergio Leone.

Injeti Srinivas New Chairman of IFSCA
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Injeti Srinivas as chairman of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).
The former corporate affairs secretary and 1983-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre will head the IFSCA for a period of three years.
While at the helm of the ministry of corporate affairs (MCA), Srinivas was instrumental in pushing through significant reforms in the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) and the Companies Act.
The IFSCA was established by the finance ministry in April 2020 as the unified authority to regulate all financial services in International Financial Services Centres (IFSCs) in the country.
