Defence Minister Handed over F-INSAS, Nipun Mines, and LCA to the Army
Defence minister Rajnath Singh handed over the much-awaited indigenously manufactured Future Infantry Soldier as a System (F-INSAS) to the Indian Army.
Army Chief General Manoj Pande and Lt General Harpal Singh were present at the ceremony where the latest anti-personnel mine Nipun, the Made in India Landing Craft Assault (LCA) as well as a drone system to help keep an eye on enemy troops in the forward areas along the Line of Actual control were also handed over.
An army soldier also briefed Rajnath on the new weapon systems.
These systems will enhance the operational preparedness of the Army and help them to deal with future challenges."
The F-INSAS project aims at modernising infantry and enhancing the operational capability of the soldier.
Vostok-2022: Indo-China Military Drills to be Held in Russia
The People's Liberation Army of China will take part in the Vostok-2022 strategic command and staff exercise in Russia, which also includes the armies of India, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Mongolia, according to the country's defence ministry. China's People's Liberation Army will send some troops to Russia to participate in the Vostok-2022 (East) strategic exercise, in accordance with the two countries' yearly military cooperation plan and agreement.
The Vostok-2022 strategic command and staff exercise will be conducted at 13 training facilities in the Eastern Military District under the direction of Valery Gerasimov, the head of the Russia's General Staff. Vostok-2022 strategic command and staff exercise will be held between August 30 and September 5, the drills are anticipated to take place.

Village Defence Guard Scheme Comes into Force in Jammu and Kashmir
The government of Jammu and Kashmir released an official communication regarding the implementation of the Village Defence Guards scheme in the union territory.
The implementation was initiated after getting approval from the Union Home Ministry that changed and revised the old scheme.
The members of the Village Defence Group shall be designated as Village Defence Guard (VDG. In more vulnerable areas, persons (V1 category) who shall be leading/ coordinating the VDG would be paid of Rs. 4500 per month and other persons (V2 category) who are members of these VDGs on voluntary basis will be paid a uniform rate Rs. 4000 per month. VDGs will function under the direction of SP/SSP of the concerned District.
As per report, each Village Defence Group will function under the supervision and direction of the SP/SSP of the concerned district. Similarly, each Village Defence Group will be led/coordinated by the persons bracketed in the V1 category, who will also be authorised to make use of the police wireless facilities for passing and receiving messages having a bearing on their charter of duties.

India Hands over Dornier Maritime Surveillance Aircraft to Sri Lankan Navy
The security of India and Sri Lanka was enhanced by mutual understanding, mutual trust and cooperation as India handed over a Dornier maritime surveillance aircraft to the Sri Lanka Navy to further boost bilateral defence partnership.
Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe was present at the handover ceremony.
Vice Chief of Indian Navy Vice Admiral S. N. Ghormade, who is on a two-day visit to the country, accompanied by Indian High Commissioner in Colombo Gopal Baglay handed over the maritime surveillance aircraft to the Sri Lanka Navy at the Sri Lanka Airforce base in Katunayake adjoining the Colombo international airport.

India, Malaysia Air Force Exercise 'Udarashakti' Conducted in Malaysia
A contingent of the Indian Air Force participated in a bilateral exercise named 'Udarashakti' with Malaysia. This is the first bilateral exercise conducted between Indian Air Force and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
Indian Air Force participated in the air exercise with Su-30 MKI and C-17 aircraft while the RMAF flewg Su 30 MKM aircraft. The Indian contingent departed from one of its air bases directly for their destination, the RMAF base of Kuantan.
The IAF contingent members shared and learnt best practices with some of the best professionals from RMAF, while also discussing mutual combat capabilities.
The four days of exercise witnessed the conduct of various aerial combat drills between the two Air Forces. Ex Udarashakti would fortify the long-standing bond of friendship and enhance the avenues of defence cooperation between the two Air Forces, thereby augmenting security in the region.
Indian, Oman Army Exercise Concludes in Bikaner
A joint exercise of the Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman -- Al Najah -- held in Mahajan fielding firing range in Rajasthan's Bikaner district concluded.
The exercise commenced on August 1 and concluded on August 13.
The joint exercise was conducted in systematic three phases.

IAF to Field Sukhoi for 17-Nation Drill
Fighter jets Sukhoi-30MKI and midair refueller IL-78 — both of Russian origin – along with US-made heavy-lift plane C-17 would be fielded by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in an upcoming 17-nation military exercise in Australia.
Called "Pitch Black 2022", the exercise will be conducted from August 19 to September 8. The three-week-long military drill, to be conducted in Northern Territory of Australia, will involve over 100 aircraft and 2,500 military personnel.
This year's participants include India, the US, Australia, Japan, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the UAE and the UK.
