PM Modi to Unveil Legendary Freedom Fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju's Statue in Andhra Pradesh

Special Chief Secretary Rajat Bhargava (Tourism and Culture) inspected the arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bhimavaram town in Andhra Pradesh on July 4, to unveil a 30-ft bronze statue of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Union Tourism and Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy and others will attend the event.
Alluri Sitarama Raju was an Indian revolutionary who waged an armed campaign against British colonial rule in India. Born in present-day Andhra Pradesh, he became involved in opposing the British in response to the 1882 Madras Forest Act, which effectively restricted the free movement of Adivasis (tribal communities) in their forest habitats and prevented them from practicing a traditional form of agriculture known as podu.

Eknath Shinde Takes Oath as CM of Maharashtra

Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the 20th Chief Minister of Maharashtra, while BJP stalwart Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister, capping a day of surprises and hectic political activities, just 24 hours after the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath of office to Shinde and his deputy Fadnavis at the Raj Bhavan.

Maharashtra Govt. Approves Renaming of Aurangabad, Osmanabad

Maharashtra State Cabinet cleared the decisions to rename Aurangabad and Osmanabad districts to Sambhajinagar and Dharashiv respectively and also passed the proposal to extend name of farmer leader late D.B. Patil to under construction Navi Mumbai international airport.
Decisions to rename Aurangabad and Osmanabad were pending for many years and the Shiv Sena had been demanding the same for years.

Maharashtra Govt. Signs MoU with Adani Energy for 11000 MW Power Generation

The Maharashtra government's Energy department signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Adani Green Energy Group Ltd (AGEL) to generate 11000 MW green power in the next five years.
It would entail an investment of Rs. 60,000 crore and provide employment to 30,000 persons.
According to the agreement, AGEL will set up Pumped Storage Projects (PSP) in the next four to five years, through which about 11,000 MW power will be generated, said a statement issued by the state energy department.
The state will reap many benefits from PSPs which will generate or store electricity with the help of non-conventional energy sources.
The MoU was signed by Narayan Karad, Deputy Secretary, Department of Energy, Maharashtra and Ajit Barodia, Senior Vice President, Adani Industries Group.

KCR Inaugurates T-Hub 2.0

Ratan Tata, an Industrialist, applauded the Telangana government's T-Hub opening in Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao received congratulations from the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons on the new T-hub facility in Hyderabad, which will significantly improve the Indian start-up ecosystem.
The Telangana government opened the largest innovation campus in the world in Hyderabad and declared that the city would soon produce the next significant innovation in start-up companies.
The start-up ecosystem in our state is regarded as one of the top 10 in the world for accessible talent.
It is among Asia's top 15 start-up hubs for raising capital. Telangana's start-up ecosystem was worth USD 4.8 billion in 2021.
According to the Telangana government, the new structure has a total built-up area of more than 5.82 lakh square feet, making it the largest innovation campus in the world.
The second-largest campus is start-up incubator Station F, which is located in France.

Govt. Launches E-learning Portal 'Dak Karmayogi' for Dak Sevaks Employees

Minister of Communications Ashwini Vaishnaw launched 'Dak Karmayogi'. It is an e-learning portal of Department of Posts.
Dak Karmayogi portal was launched with the aim of enhancing competencies of departmental employees and Gramin Dak Sevaks by enabling them to access uniform standardised content in blended campus mode or online.
This would enable them to effectively deliver several government-to-citizen services, in order to bring enhanced customer satisfaction.
On this portal, the training videos and quizzes are available in 12 Indian languages, which will help postal trainees in accessing training content in vernacular languages.
Dak karmayogi portal was developed under the vision of 'Mission Karmayogi', which was conceptualized to bring efficiency in tactions of all government employees.

Uddhav Resigns as Maharashtra CM after SC Refuses to Stay Floor Test

Stating that he was not interested in playing the numbers game, Uddhav Thackeray resigned as Maharashtra Chief Minister, minutes after Supreme Court refused to stay Governor B. S. Koshyari's direction to his government to take a floor test in the Assembly.
The resignation of Thackeray capped a week-long drama of resort politics.
Thackeray's sudden announcement, which came on a day Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said he will fight till the end, paves way for the return of a BJP-led dispensation in the state, two-and-a-half-years after the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress government came to power.

Maharashtra Government Pushes to Rename Aurangabad

With increasing pressure on the Shiv Sena from within to underscore its 'Hindu' credentials the Maharashtra government is likely to clear a controversial and long pending issue of renaming Aurangabad city as Sambhaji Nagar. Shiv Sena leader and State Transport Minister Anil Parab requested Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to rename the city in the cabinet meeting. A proposal will be brought for discussion in the next cabinet meeting.
In 2021, the Chief Minister had told the state assembly that a detailed proposal for renaming Aurangabad as Sambhaji Nagar was received from the divisional commissioner and legal opinion on the same had been sought.

Attorney General K.K. Venugopal to Continue for 3 more Months

Attorney General K.K. Venugopal accepted the Centre's request to continue for three more months as the main legal advisor to the government.
The eminent lawyer and constitutional law expert was first appointed as Attorney General on July 1, 2017, succeeding Mukul Rohatgi, who was the Attorney General from June 2014 to June 2017. He was reappointed to the post for an approved tenure up to June 30, 2022.
Venugopal is an internationally known jurist who appeared in many landmark cases in the Supreme Court and different High Courts.

Mukul Roy Resigns as Public Accounts Committee Chairman in WB Assembly

Senior TMC leader and MLA Mukul Roy submitted his resignation as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in West Bengal Assembly to Speaker Biman Banerjee saying that his tenure was about to end.
Roy, who won the 2021 assembly polls on a BJP ticket from Krishnanagar Uttar constituency in Nadia district, had defected to the ruling Trinamool Congress a month later in June 2021. He did not, however, resign as a legislator despite being asked to do so by the saffron party.

Parameswaran Iyer, Force Behind Swachh Bharat Success, Named NITI Aayog CEO

After a six-year-long stint, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant is set to leave the government policy think tank at the end of June. He will be replaced by former Secretary of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation Parameswaran Iyer, who spearheaded the government's Swachh Bharat Mission.
Iyer's initial tenure will be for two years, according to a notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
A 1980-batch retired IAS officer (Kerala cadre), Kant took over as the NITI Aayog CEO in 2016 — he last got an extension, by a year, in June 2021. During his time at the organisation, Kant drove the policy push in areas related to industrial development, technology and investment. He is seen as having played a key role in the government's flagship 'Make in India' scheme and was also behind the Aspirational Districts Programme, which was targetted at improving the socio-economic outcomes in some of the most backward districts.

BJP's Tripura Ally IPFT to Merge with Tipra Motha ahead of Assembly Polls

The Indigenous People's Front of Tripura, an ally of the BJP in the North-eastern state, will merge with a regional political party Tipra Motha on July 2 ahead of the State Assembly elections due next year.
The Tipra Motha, headed by royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, demands a separate state for the indigenous people of Tripura.
IPFT vice-president Jibanjoy Reang said that after a long discussion, we have decided to merge with Tipra Motha at a programme in Agartala on July 2 to realise the dream of achieving Greater Tipraland.
The Tipra Motha, formed early last year, swept the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections took place in April 2021, winning 18 of the 28 seats over the 'Greater Tipraland' demand in a direct contest with the ruling BJP-IPFT alliance.

Govt. Issues New ad for Chief of Oil Regulator PNGRB, Vacant since Dec. 2020

The government for a second time in as many years re-advertised the post of chairman of oil and gas regulator PNGRB, which has been lying vacant since December 2020.
The oil ministry issued an advertisement inviting applications for the post of chairman of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).
The post of chairman of PNGRB has been lying vacant since December 4, 2020, when Dinesh K. Sarraf completed his three-year term.

Eknath Shinde-led Rebel MLAs Name their Faction 'Shiv Sena Balasaheb'

The Shiv Sena rebel MLAs of Eknath Shinde faction named their group as 'Shiv Sena Balasaheb'.
Former Minister of State for Home and rebel MLA Deepak Kesarkar told that Eknath Shinde-led MLAs formed a new group 'Shiv Sena Balasaheb'.
The decision came at a time when Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was holding the executive meeting of Shiv Sena. The Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government continues to be in a combative mode with 38 of its rebel MLAs camping in Guwahati.

Tapan Kumar Deka Made IB Chief, Samant Goel Gets another Year as R&AW Chief

Senior IPS officer Tapan Kumar Deka was appointed Intelligence Bureau chief, replacing Arvind Kumar whose extended tenure ends on June 30.
Deka, who has been handling the operations wing of the IB, takes over as the new chief for two years, according to an official order issued by the Personnel Ministry. He is a 1988 batch officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre.
