Secretary Department of Science and Technology (DST) Professor Abhay Karandikar who was acting as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) handed over the charge to Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman who was appointed CEO.
With this, Dr. Shivkumar assumed charge of the CEO of ANRF which aims to seed, grow and promote research and development (R&D) and foster a culture of research and innovation throughout India's universities, colleges, research institutions, and R&D laboratories.
Dr. Shivkumar who earlier held the post of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Energy Industry, Asia at Microsoft is a Distinguished Alumnus Awardee of IIT Madras & Ohio State University (2021).

Following talks with his Mauritian counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Modi announced India's new vision for Global South and named it "MAHASAGAR" or "Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions", a policy approach that came against the backdrop of China's relentless attempts to expand its influence in the Indian Ocean.
The unveiling of the 'MAHASAGAR' vision came 10 years after the Prime Minister announced during his visit to Mauritius in 2015 New Delhi's SAGAR or Security and Growth for All in the Region policy that formed the bedrock for India's engagement with the Indian Ocean Region.
The new approach will focus on the spirit of trade for development, capacity building for sustainable growth, and mutual security for a shared future.

Tamil Nadu Replaces Rupee Symbol in State Budget amid Massive Row with Centre
Amid its war of words with the Centre over the three-language policy under the National Education Policy, the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government dropped the Devanagari rupee symbol and replaced it with a Tamil letter in its logo for the state Budget 2025-26.
The logo, released by the office of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, which read 'Ellorkkum Ellaam' (Everything for Everyone), carried 'ru', the first letter of the Tamil word 'rubaai' which denotes the Indian currency in the vernacular language.

This Centre-State partnership is the first of its kind under the BioE3 framework and aims to accelerate high-performance biomanufacturing while fostering a sustainable biotechnology ecosystem in Assam.
The MoU signed between DBT, and the Government of Assam formalises a strategic collaboration in which DBT will extend its guidance and facilitate partnerships, while the Government of Assam will spearhead initiatives by establishing a State BioE3 Cell and developing an Assam BioE3 Action Plan. This collaboration underscores Assam's proactive approach to harnessing its rich biodiversity and agricultural strength to build a robust biomanufacturing ecosystem in the State.

Department of Posts undertook an initiative namely "Digital Address Code" aimed at establishing a digital public infrastructure for a standardised, geo-coded addressing system in India ensuring simplified addressing solutions for citizen-centric delivery of public and private services to establish ―Address as a Service‖ (AaaS) in India.
As a part of this initiative, the Department of Posts (DoP), under the Ministry of Communications, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, for designing and documenting the technology architecture for the Digital Address Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
This strategic collaboration aims to lay foundational technological principles and design for establishment of digital address DPI which is envisioned as a standardised, georeferenced and interoperable addressing system that will revolutionize the ways in which address data is created, shared and consumed in the country. It will serve as a foundational public infrastructure that integrates with government, business, and citizen services to streamline service delivery, emergency response, financial inclusion, and urban planning.

The workshop aims to train young Ayurveda researchers and Sanskrit scholars in studying, transliterating, and publishing Ayurvedic manuscripts, unlocking their vast potential for contemporary research. Odisha, with its rich manuscript heritage, presents a significant opportunity, and this workshop will help build a skilled human resource pool to preserve and promote Ayurvedic knowledge. 30 scholars from Odisha will participate under the guidance of over 10 eminent experts.

India Signs MoU with Qatar to Boost Economic, Financial Cooperation
India and Qatar signed an agreement to promote and develop mutual collaboration in public-private partnership framework and investment, use of financing tools, as well as economic policies, the finance ministry said.
The ministries of finance of both countries shall promote models and areas of joint collaboration between them, such as organising expert workshops, seminars and conferences; exchanging documentary and technical information in areas of joint work and keeping pace with the dialogue between the business communities of the two countries.
The MoU signifies the commitment of both sides to work together and unlock new opportunities for investment, growth and development.

BJP Sweeps Haryana Local Polls, Wins 9 of 10, Congress Loses In Hooda Bastion
The Congress slumped to a second successive election defeat in Haryana after the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party won polls for 9 of 10 mayoral positions, including in Gurugram and Rohtak, the stronghold of Bhupinder Hooda, one of the opposition party's senior-most state leaders.
The BJP won in Ambala, Karnal, Panipat, Sonepat, Hisar, Rohtak, Faridabad, Gurugram and Yamunanagar. Its only setback came in Manesar where party rebel Inderjeet Yadav defeated BJP nominee Sunder Lal.

The Bureau of Water Use Efficiency (BWUE) under the National Water Mission (NWM), Ministry of Jal Shakti, in association with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), organised a one-day conference titled 'Water Sustainability Conference 2025', with a focus on Industrial Water Use Efficiency. The conference was held on March 12, 2025 at the NDMC Convention Centre, Palika Kendra, Sansad Marg, New Delhi.
The event was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C. R. Patil, who highlighted the Government's commitment towards promoting industrial water use efficiency through innovative technologies and strategic frameworks.
The conference brought together participants representing central government agencies, industry leaders, water management experts, research institutions, and PSUs.
