Puducherry Adopts NeVA

  • Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, L. Murugan inaugurated the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) for Puducherry Legislative Assembly. It is a major stride towards transparent, efficient, and environment-friendly governance. Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister of Puducherry N. Rangasamy, Speaker of Puducherry Legislative Assembly R. Selvam were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
  • With this launch, Puducherry became the 19th legislature in the country to adopt the NeVA platform, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Digital India. The initiative, which enables paperless legislative functioning, is funded through 100% Central Assistance by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

India Hosts ITU's FG-AINN Meet: Shaping the Future of AI-Native Telecom Networks

  • India took center stage in global telecom innovation by hosting the 3rd International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) Focus Group on AI-Native for Telecommunication Networks (FG-AINN) in New Delhi from June 11–13, 2025. The meeting, organised by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), aimed to redefine how future telecom networks operate using Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a core, rather than an auxiliary, component. This marked a significant step forward in shaping globally intelligent, adaptive, and autonomous communication systems.

Coal India inks MoU with Kolkata Port for dynamic lighting of Howrah Bridge

  • Coal India Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), to support the dynamic illumination of the iconic Howrah Bridge, also known as Rabindra Setu.
  • According to the agreement, the lighting design will include volumetric and skeleton lighting techniques, paired with synchronised music shows. This immersive audio-visual experience will highlight the bridge's unique architectural elements, while also celebrating the cultural heritage of Kolkata.
  • The MoU was signed at Coal Bhawan, Coal India's headquarters, in the presence of Chairman P. M. Prasad, SMPK Chairman Rathendra Raman, Deputy Chairman Samrat Rahi, and other senior officials.

The 1st Meeting of Task Force on Textiles Exports held

  • The first meeting of the Task Force on Textiles Exports was held under the Chairpersonship of Commerce Secretary, Sunil Barthwal at Vanijya Bhawan in Delhi to discuss issues & strategies for enhancing textiles exports from India.

President Promulgates Ladakh Reservation and Language Regulations

  • President Droupadi Murmu promulgated three key regulations: the Ladakh Reservation (Amendment) Regulation, 2025, ensuring 85% job reservation for local residents; the Ladakh Official Languages Regulation, 2025, recognising five official languages including Bhoti and Purgi; and amendments to the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils Regulation, providing for 33% reservation for women in the Leh and Kargil Hill Councils. These steps aim to empower local communities, preserve cultural heritage, and enhance gender representation.
  • The President of India used powers under Article 240 of the Constitution to promulgate three major regulations for Ladakh.

  • As part of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 celebrations, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) organise a special three-day Iyengar Yoga Workshop under the inclusive theme of 'Yoga Samavesh'. The workshop is being held from June 9 to 11, 2025.
  • The sessions are being led by renowned Iyengar Yoga teacher Amit Sharma from Lifeyoga Centre, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The workshop focuses on precision in body alignment techniques and enhancing mental wellness, hallmarks of the Iyengar Yoga tradition.

Padmanabhaswamy Temple Performs Rare Grand Consecration After 270 Years

  • Hundreds of devotees thronged the famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala to witness Maha Kumbhabhishekam held at the shrine after 270 years.
  • This grand consecration took place following the completion of long-overdue renovation work at this ancient temple.
  • Dedication of "thazhikakudams", (the three domes above the sanctum sanctorum), the reinstallation of the Vishwaksena idol, and the 'Ashtabandha Kalasam' at the Thiruvambady Sree Krishna Temple (located within the main shrine complex) were held.
  • The Vishwaksena idol, renovated and reinstalled now, is about 300 years old and was built in "katu sarkara yogam", a traditional method involving a unique combination of materials to create idols.

T. Rabi Sankar Appointed as Part-time Member of the 16th Finance Commission

  • The President appointed T. Rabi Sankar, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), as a part-time Member of the 16th Finance Commission (XVIFC). He shall hold office until the submission of the Commission's Report or October 31, 2025, whichever is earlier.
  • The appointment of T. Rabi Sankar is consequent to the resignation of one of the full-time Members of the XVIFC, Ajay Narayan Jha.
  • The XVIFC was constituted on December 31, 2023, with Arvind Panagariya, former Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog, as its chairman. The XVIFC is mandated to submit its recommendations by October 31, 2025, for the award period of five years commencing from April 1, 2026.

  • The UMEED Central Portal, named after the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development Act, 1995, is a centralised digital platform designed to enable real-time uploading, verification, and monitoring of Waqf properties.
