CP Radhakrishnan Elected as India's 15th Vice President
In September 2025, CP Radhakrishnan, the former Tamil Nadu BJP president and Maharashtra Governor, was elected as the 15th Vice President of India, defeating opposition candidate B Sudershan Reddy, a senior advocate and former Supreme Court judge.
The election witnessed a high turnout of 98.3%, showcasing the unity and participation of parliamentarians.
Radhakrishnan secured 452 first preference votes, while Justice Reddy received 300 votes. Fifteen votes were declared invalid. Out of 781 eligible MPs, 767 cast their votes, marking an impressive 98.20% turnout. Thirteen MPs abstained, including members from the Biju Janata Dal, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Shiromani Akali Dal, and one independent.

The centenary celebrations aim to honour his immense contributions to music, cinema, and social change, while keeping his legacy alive for future generations.
Bhupen Hazarika was born on September 8, 1926, in Assam. He became one of India's most iconic cultural figures through his soulful songs, powerful lyrics, and socially relevant compositions.
Hazarika was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music and culture. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 85.
India's Unemployment Rate Lowest among G20 Nations

Niti Aayog Strategy to Double Pulses Production by 2047
In a major step toward agricultural self-reliance, Niti Aayog has released a comprehensive strategy to make India self-sufficient in pulses by 2030 and double its production by 2047.
The report outlines a roadmap that integrates technological, ecological, and socio-economic interventions, aiming to transform the pulses sector into a pillar of India's food and nutritional security.
Currently producing 26.06 million tonnes (MT) of pulses (as of 2022), India is projected to increase production to 34.45 MT by 2030 and further to 51.57 MT by 2047, marking a potential surplus scenario in the coming decades.
Angikaar 2025 Campaign Launched to Boost PMAY-U 2.0
Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, launched Angikaar 2025, a dedicated outreach and awareness campaign under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0).
The initiative was unveiled at a ceremony in New Delhi, aiming to bridge the last-mile gap in urban housing delivery and boost awareness and community participation in housing schemes.

India's First Port-Based Green Hydrogen Pilot Project Launched at VOC Port
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated India's first port-based Green Hydrogen Pilot Project at V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port in Tamil Nadu on Friday, marking a milestone in the country's clean energy transition.
The facility, set up at a cost of Rs. 3.87 crore, has a capacity of 10 Nm³ per hour and will generate green hydrogen to power streetlights and an electric vehicle charging station in the port colony. With this, VOC Port has become the first port in the country to produce green hydrogen.
