Communications and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the 3rd edition of NIC Tech Conclave in New Delhi. The two-day event was organized by the National Informatics Centre NIC. Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar, was the guest of honour. The event was attended by the Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and other dignitaries from Centre and State Governments. NIC has been organizing Tech Conclave focused on Emerging Technologies applicable especially in e-Governance. The Theme for Tech Conclave this year (2022) was "Next-Gen Technologies for Digital Government".
The speakers in this 2022 Conclave were from the IT industry who will share their expertise in various areas like Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Next Gen Database Solutions, Cyber Security, Future of Cloud, and various e-Governance Solutions, etc.
UN Telecom Body ITU to Open its Area Office in New Delhi for South Asia
Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General Houlin Zhao signed a pact virtually to establish an area office and innovation centre of the United Nations telecom body in New Delhi. The setting up of the area office will provide greater access and engagement to India and South Asian countries in global policy and standard formation in the field of telecommunication.
India was a founding member of ITU when it was formed more than one-and-a-half century ago in 1865 as the International Telegraph Union but this is the first time that ITU is opening in the South Asia region with India as the host country.

Roland-Garros, Infosys Extend Partnership for another 5 Years
IT firm Infosys renewed three-year partnership with Roland-Garros, also known as The French Open Tennis Tournament, for a further period of five years till 2026.
The contract renewal would bring a new element to the partnership, with Infosys doubling down on broadcast and technology innovations while also launching a new social inclusion initiative at Roland-Garros (RG) 2022.
The agreement would see Infosys continue to push the boundaries of technology for the Parisian Slam as the Official Digital Innovation Partner, through 2026.
Under the digital innovation partnership, the Infosys tennis platform would continue to power data and insights for fans, players, coaches, journalists, and broadcast teams.

NASSCOM, Microsoft Announce 2nd 'AI Gamechangers' to Boost AI Adoption
In a bid to accelerate AI (artificial intelligence) adoption in India, NASSCOM and Microsoft announced the second edition of the 'AI Gamechangers' awards.
The programme would serve as a platform for start-ups, enterprises, academia, governments, and NGOs to showcase their innovations in AI.
India was ranked 8th in the top 10 countries by AI patent families on a global level, an impressive accomplishment considering India had no AI related patent filing prior to 2002.
The programme will also encourage nominations for impactful AI solutions built for social impact.
The award-winning entries will be featured in the annual 'AI Gamechangers' compendium at Nasscom's flagship Xperience AI Summit.

NASA Extends SpaceX Crew Flight Contract for 3 Missions to ISS
NASA awarded three additional missions to the International Space Station (ISS) to Elon Musk led SpaceX company for a $3.49 billion contract.
The contract for Crew-7, Crew-8, and Crew-9 is part of NASA's Commercial Crew Transportation Capability (CCtCap), which follows the US space agency's notice of intent to procure the flights in December 2021.
It brings the total missions for SpaceX to nine and allows NASA to maintain an uninterrupted US capability for human access to the space station.
Earlier, SpaceX was contracted to fly three more missions to the ISS: Crew-4 and Crew-5 in 2022 and Crew-6 in 2023.
The period of performance for SpaceX now runs through March 31, 2028.

Map of 4.4 Million Galaxies
Using the Low-Frequency Array (LOFAR) radio, more than a quarter of the northern sky was mapped by astronomers from Durham University who collaborated with a team of international scientists for this project. This map provides an incredibly detailed radio image of over 4.4 million objects, as well as a very dynamic picture of our Universe.
The vast majority of these mapped objects are galaxies with huge black holes or rapidly growing young stars that are billions of light-years away.
Flaring stars within the Milky Way and colliding groups of faraway galaxies are among the rarer objects discovered.
This is by far the largest data release from the LOFAR Two-metre Sky Survey.
This data release includes nearly four million objects that at radio wavelengths are new discoveries and around a million objects that have never been seen before with any telescope.
