Tech Mahindra, IBM Collaborate to Drive Digital Adoption

Tech Mahindra and IBM joined forces to inaugurate a Synergy Lounge in Singapore, aimed at accelerating digital adoption for enterprises across the Asia-Pacific region. This collaboration seeks to leverage next-gen technologies to drive innovation and offer unique solutions to various industries.
The Lounge will focus on technologies such as AI, Intelligent Automation, Hybrid Cloud, 5G, Edge Computing, and Cybersecurity.
Enterprises will be assisted in operationalising these technologies to solve complex business problems and enhance efficiency.

Gaia Telescope Discovers Two Ancient Streams of Stars Shiva & Shakti

The European Space Agency's Gaia space telescope made a groundbreaking discovery, uncovering two ancient streams of stars named Shiva and Shakti. Led by Khyati Malhan of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Germany, this revelation significantly enhances our understanding of the Milky Way's origins.
Each cluster comprises about 10 million suns, with stars aged 12 to 13 billion years, displaying remarkably similar orbits and structures.
Situated towards the galaxy's heart, these streams were formed as separate fragments that merged into one galaxy early in its history, shedding light on the Milky Way's early formation.
Launched in December 2013, Gaia, operated by the European Space Agency, has been surveying the skies for over a decade, collecting extensive data to create a detailed 3D map of the Milky Way.

Tamil Nadu Makes History with India's Second Privately Developed Rocket

Tamil Nadu made history when one of its space start-ups launched its first rocket. The Chennai headquartered space start-up Agnikul Cosmos Private Limited launched its first rocket Agnibaan Sub Orbital Technology Demonstrator (SOrTeD) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota.
There are several interesting facts about this particular launch - Agnibaan SOrTeD - is India's first launch from a private launchpad, India's first semi-cryogenic engine powered rocket launch and the world's first single piece 3D printed engine designed and built indigenously.
Founded in 2017 by Srinath Ravichandran, Moin SPM, and Satya Chakravarthy, Agnikul Cosmos became the first company in the country to sign an agreement with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under the IN-SPACe initiative to have access to the space agency's expertise and its facilities to build Agnibaan in December 2020.

SAKHI: The Lifeline for Gaganyaan Crew

Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) developed SAKHI, a revolutionary app aimed at aiding astronauts during the Gaganyaan space flight mission. SAKHI, or Space-borne Assistant and Knowledge Hub for Crew Interaction, offers indispensable support across various critical aspects of the mission.
SAKHI provides astronauts with digital access to technical documents and training manuals, eliminating the need for cumbersome manual documentation.
Astronauts can use SAKHI to maintain a detailed log of the mission, utilising multiple formats including voice recordings, texts, and images for efficient documentation.
SAKHI facilitates continuous communication between the crew, the onboard computer, and ground-based stations, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity with Earth.

Scientists Discover a 'Gigantic' Volcano on Mars

Researchers uncovered a monumental discovery on Mars, a colossal volcano named Noctis Volcano. Standing at an impressive 29,600 feet tall and stretching approximately 450 kilometres in width, this massive volcano lies just south of Mars' equator within the Eastern Noctis Labyrinthus region. The finding, made possible by data from a suite of missions including NASA's Mariner 9, Viking Orbiter 1 and 2, Mars Global Surveyor, Mars Odyssey, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, and the ESA's Mars Express, unveiled a hidden geological marvel.
Ancient Activity and Geological History: The size and complex modification history of Noctis Volcano suggest its activity from ancient times, offering potential insights into Mars' geologic and possibly biologic past.
Clues of Water Activity and Life: The presence of a potential sheet of buried glacier ice near the volcano's base hints at past water activity and raises the tantalizing possibility of habitability and life-supporting environments.

NASA to Carry 'Message in Bottle' To Europa, One of Jupiter's Moon in October

NASA will carry 'message in a bottle' to Europa, one of Jupiter's moon in October this year (2024). The mission dubbed as Europa Clipper mission will explore signs of life as scientists predict a salty lake under its icy crust. The Europa Clipper spacecraft will carry a triangular metal plate with an engraving of US Poet Laureate Ada Limón's handwritten 'In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa', along with a silicon microchip stenciled with more than 2.6 million names submitted by the public.
