Titanic Wave Of Star-Forming Gases Found In Milky Way

Astronomers have discovered a titanic wave of star-forming gases practically right under our noses in the Milky Way.
Harvard University scientists reported Tuesday that this massive structure has been hiding out in the Milky Way galaxy's spiral arm closest to Earth.
The researchers were building a 3-D map of our galaxy's interstellar matter, using a star census gathered by Europe's Gaia spacecraft when they spotted the wave-shaped structure.
It's an astounding 50 quadrillion miles (85 quadrillion kilometres) long and it's home to tens of thousands of baby stars, with the potential for countless more stellar births, according to the paper published in the journal Nature.

ISRO To Launch IDRSS Satellites For Seamless Crew Communication

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced that it aims to launch its own satellite pair for space communication purposes, called Indian Data Relay Satellite System (IDRSS).
IDRSS is already being worked on, and will be pivotal in maintaining communication with the astronaut crew and ground mission control at any given phase, during manned space missions.
The two satellites, which will be deployed in phases, are already being worked on by ISRO.
The second satellite will be launched in 2021, before the manned mission is embarked upon in 2022.

NASA's Tess Planet Hunter Finds Its First Earth-Size World In "Habitable Zone"

NASA's newest planet hunter just bagged some big game.
For the first time, the agency's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) has discovered a roughly Earth-size planet in the habitable zone of its host star, the zone of orbital distances where liquid water could be stable on a world's surface.
The newfound exoplanet, known as TOI 700 d, lies just 101.5 light-years from Earth, making it a good candidate for follow-up observations by other instruments.

Challakere to be ISRO's astronaut training hub

India's world-class facility for training astronauts will come up not in the space headquarters in Bengaluru, nor in any glitzy metropolis. It will be established in three years at Challakere, a shrubby, arid oilseeds town on the Bengaluru-Pune NH4 in Chitradurga district of Karnataka.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has proposed a ₹ 2,700-crore master plan to create top infrastructure that will house its young Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC).

ISRO Sets Up Academic Centre In Karnataka, To Provide ₹2 Crore Grant

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) set up a regional academic centre for space at the National Institute of Technology (NITK) at Surathkal in Karnataka's southwest Dakshina Kannada district.
The centre at NIT-K will conduct joint research and development in space technology applications to meet the needs of our space programmes.
The state-run ISRO will provide ₹2 crore grant annually to NIT for the R&D projects and promotional activities through the year.
The space agency and the engineering institute signed an agreement on the industry-academic collaboration at Surathkal, about 380km from Bengaluru.
