Uttarakhand marked a significant milestone in sports as it unveiled the mascot, logo, jersey, anthem, and tagline for the 38th National Games 2025 at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun. With the Games scheduled from January 28 to February 14, 2025, the event symbolizes a blend of tradition, athleticism, and the state's rich heritage. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President P. T. Usha and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led the unveiling ceremony, which also included announcements of traditional sports like yoga and mallakhamb being part of the competition.

Inspired by the Monal, the state bird of Uttarakhand, symbolises the region's uniqueness and encourages young athletes to aim high.
The logo reflects the beauty and biodiversity of Uttarakhand, incorporating the Monal's vibrant imagery.

Ravichandran Ashwin Retires from International Cricket
India's key spinner Ravichandran Ashwin announced retirement from international cricket at the end of the third Test match Border-Gavaskar series against Australia in Brisbane.
With 765 wickets in his credit, Ashwin is the second-highest wicket-taker from India after Anil Kumble. Ashwin has taken 537 wickets at an average of 24 in 106 Test matches. He is also 7th on the overall list of wicket-takers.
He is the second fastest to take 500 Test wickets, reaching it in 98 matches.
Ashwin also has 37 5-wicket-hauls in an innings, the second most behind Sri Lanka's legendary Muttiah Muralitharan.
Over 16 IPL seasons, Ashwin has donned the colours of multiple franchises, including CSK, Rising Pune Supergiant (RPSG), Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals. With 180 wickets in 212 matches at a remarkable economy rate of 7.12, he has been one of the most consistent bowlers in IPL history.
Nat Sciver-Brunt Sets Record for Fastest Test Century
England made history at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, South Africa, with Nat Sciver-Brunt and Maia Bouchier setting remarkable records in women's cricket. Sciver-Brunt smashed the fastest Test century by a woman, while Bouchier marked her Test debut with a century.
Sciver-Brunt became the first and only woman cricketer to score a Test century in less than 100 balls, reaching her hundred off just 96 balls.
This feat broke the previous record held by Sri Lanka's Chamani Seneviratna, who had scored a century off 106 balls in 1998.
Sciver-Brunt's record-setting knock ended at 128 runs.

Rohan Jaitley Reelected as DDCA President
Rohan Jaitley was appointed as the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) president for another term, beating former India player Kirti Azad in the polls.
Jaitley, son of former Union Minister late Arun Jaitley, secured 1,577 votes compared to Azad's 777 in the race to the top position.
As many as 2,413 votes were cast, and 1,207 votes were required to win.
In 2020, Rohan was elected unopposed as DDCA president and a year later, he defeated advocate Vikas Singh.

Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Junior won the FIFA Best men's player of the year award at a ceremony in Doha, while Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati picked up the women's prize for the second time.

Indian women's hockey team beat China 3-2 in penalty shootout in the final of the Women's Junior Asia Cup in Muscat, Oman, and successfully defended its title.
The top five finishers at the 2024 Women's Junior Asia Cup -India, China, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia qualified for the 2025 FIH Women's Junior World Cup in Chile.
The 10th Women's Junior Asia Cup was held in Muscat, Oman, from December 7 to 15, 2024.
Hockey India, announced a reward of Rs. 2 lakh for each player and Rs. 1 lakh to each support staff for everyone's effort and winning the championship.
