Spain's Eugenio Chacarra captured his first DP World Tour title in stunning fashion at the 2025 Hero Indian Open, overcoming an early setback to secure victory by two shots at the challenging DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurugram, Haryana.

Gulveer Singh Sets New 10000m National Record at the Ten 2025

During the Ten 2025 athletics meet at San Juan Capistrano in the USA, India's Gulveer Singh broke his own record and created a new national record in the men's 10000m event, as per Olympics.com.
Singh clocked an impressive 27:00.22s and finished sixth.
The race was won by Ishmael Kipkurui (26:50.21), who broke the NCAA record. Habtom Samuel finished second with 26:51.06 while Adrian Wildschutt secured third place in 26:51.27. The Ten is a World Athletics Continental Tour silver-level meet.

Khelo India Para Games 2025 Concludes: Haryana Tops Medal Tally Once Again

The second edition of the Khelo India Para Games (KIPG) 2025 came to a grand conclusion after eight days of intense sporting action. The event, which witnessed participation from nearly 1,300 para-athletes, showcased exceptional talent, determination, and resilience. Held across three major venues in New Delhi—Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, and Karni Singh Shooting Range—this year's edition was a testament to the unyielding human spirit.
The Khelo India Para Games 2025 saw Haryana once again emerging as the top-performing state with 34 gold medals, retaining its dominance from the inaugural edition held in 2023. Tamil Nadu (28 golds) and Uttar Pradesh (23 golds) finished in second and third positions, respectively. The event witnessed the creation of 18 national records, further highlighting the increasing competitiveness and excellence of para-athletes in India.

Ajinkya Rahane Creates IPL History: First Indian to Captain Three Different Teams

Senior Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane, who is leading Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025, entered his name in the history books on Saturday (March 22) by becoming the first Indian player to lead three teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The first match of IPL 2025 between KKR and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday is Rahane's 26^th match in the IPL as captain. In the past he has served as captain of RPSG in one match of IPL 2017 and Rajasthan Royals captain in 24 matches of IPL 2018 and 2019.

Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 Concludes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to the Indian Sepak Takraw team for its outstanding performance at the Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025, where it secured seven medals, including a historic gold in the Men's Regu event—India's first-ever top finish in the sport.
The Indian Men's Regu team was officially crowned World Champions after clinching the gold medal at the 2025 Sepak Takraw World Cup, held in Patna, Bihar.

Khelo India Para Games 2025

The penultimate day of the Khelo India Para Games 2025 saw Paralympian Sonalben Patel from Gujarat secure gold in the women's Class 3 table tennis category. The left-handed Sonalben beat Bihar's Vidya Kumari.
The powerlifting competition came to an end at the Khelo India Para Games 2025 with former KIPG medallists making their mark. Over the course of the three days of competitions, the para powerlifting saw four national records being set by Jaspreet Kaur (45 kg), Manish Kumar (54 kg), Seema Rani (61 kg), and Jhandu Kumar (72 kg).
Haryana's Pardeep Joon, who had won gold in the first edition of the Khelo India Para Games in December 2023, lifted 194 kg in 107+ kg category and won his second gold medal of the Games.

Phil Simmons to Continue as Bangladesh Head Coach until 2027 ODI World Cup

Phil Simmons will continue as Bangladesh's head coach for the next two years until the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Simmons was initially appointed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in an interim role until the conclusion of the Champions Trophy 2025. The Bangladesh board then offered him a longer contract that keeps him with the Tigers for the next two years.

The iconic Gabba Stadium in Brisbane, Australia is set for demolition following the 2032 Olympic Games, with cricket relocating to a newly built 60,000-capacity stadium in the Victoria Park area.
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli announced the updated Olympic infrastructure plans, marking a significant decision for cricket's future in the region. The move came after years of deliberation following Brisbane's successful Olympic bid in 2021.

ICC Retains Nitin Menon in Elite Panel of Umpires

The International Cricket Council (ICC) included Allahudien Paleker of South Africa and England's Alex Wharf in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires which features Nitin Menon as the only Indian, while Jayaraman Madangopal was promoted to the Emerging Panel.
Michael Gough and Joel Wilson will make way for the two new entrants in Palekar and Wharf.

Sunil Kumar Wins Bronze at Asian Wrestling Championships 2025

Indian wrestler Sunil Kumar secured a bronze medal in the 87kg Greco-Roman category at the Asian Wrestling Championships 2025 held in Amman, Jordan. After losing in the semi-finals against Iran's Yasin Yazdi, Sunil bounced back in the bronze medal match, defeating China's Jiaxin Huang.

Akash Bags Gold Medal at the Khelo India Para Games

Uttar Pradesh shooter Akash bagged the gold medal in mixed 50m pistol SH1 category at the Khelo India Para Games in New Delhi.
The shooting competition came to an end with Rajasthan topping the medal tally with nine medals that included four gold and two silver.
Uttar Pradesh (four medals with two gold) and Maharashtra (three medals with two gold) finished second and third respectively.

PT Usha Inaugurates National Maritime Games 2025 in Navi Mumbai

In a momentous celebration of athletic excellence and maritime unity, P.T. Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association and Member of Parliament, inaugurated the National Maritime Games 2025 at IMU, Palm Beach Road, Navi Mumbai.
The grand opening ceremony was graced by an eminent gathering of leaders from the maritime and sporting fraternity.
The National Maritime Games 2025 features over 20 sporting events including Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Badminton, Carrom, Cricket, Chess, Golf, Futsal, Pickleball and Indoor Rowing, and continues to be a vibrant platform promoting fitness, sportsmanship and unity across India's maritime community.
The competitions are being held from March 24 to April 4.

BCCI Central Contract List for Senior Women's 2024-25 Season

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the central contract list for the Indian Women's cricket team. The list included captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and all-rounder Deepti Sharma in the highest annual retainer category of Rs. 50 lakh — Grade A.
The Grade B retainer list, where players will get Rs. 30 lakh, saw left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad dropped. Middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues, pacer Renuka Thakur, wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh, and opener Shafali Verma all remain in this bracket.
Emerging fast bowler Titas Sadhu, all-rounders Shreyanka Patil, Amanjot Kaur, Arundhati Reddy, and wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry have been awarded their maiden central contracts for the 2024-25 season by the BCCI, all placed in the Grade C category.

WFI Chief Sanjay Singh Elected UWW-Asia Bureau Member

Wrestling Federation of India president Sanjay Singh was elected as a member of the United World Wrestling-Asia bureau in the UWW general assembly in Amman, Jordan. The election took place a day before the Asian Championships set to take place in the city.
According to a release by the Wrestling Federation of India, Singh won 28 out of 38 votes.
