World's First 3D-Printed Mosque in Saudi Arabia

In a groundbreaking achievement, Jeddah celebrated the inauguration of the world's first mosque built using 3D printing technology. The mosque, located in the Al-Jawhara suburb of Jeddah, Saudi Arabian is named after the late Abdulaziz Abdullah Sharbatly and was commissioned by his wife, Saudi businesswoman Wajnat Abdulwahed, as a tribute to her late husband.

Embattled Haiti PM Ariel Henry Resigns

Amid escalating chaos in Haiti, the nation's Prime Minister Ariel Henry resigned. The leader assumed an unelected role in 2021 after the assassination of the country's last President, Jovenel Moïse.
Henry's resignation was announced by officials of the regional bloc CARICOM.

Sri Lanka's Opposition declines President's Invitation to Attend IMF Review Meeting

The Opposition in Sri Lanka on Sunday declined the invitation by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to attend a review meeting of the IMF bailout programme scheduled for Monday to help the cash-strapped nation to overcome the financial crisis it has been facing since 2022.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Thursday last began its two-week-long second review of the March 2023 bailout of USD 2.9 billion spanning over 4 years. Two tranches of USD 330 million each were released in March and December of last year.
Wickremesinghe, who is also the finance minister, is the steer of the programme which had resulted in a series of unpopular reforms being set in to put Sri Lanka's bankrupt economy back on course.
The chief Opposition whip Lakshman Kiriella told reporters here that he has been in touch with the Opposition parties and they have decided that they would not attend the meeting.
Separately, giving his reasons for skipping the IMF meeting, the main Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa said Wickremesinghe's invitation was disingenuous and lacking in good faith.

Sweden becomes the 32nd member of the NATO

The NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), also called the North Atlantic Alliance, is an intergovernmental military alliance of 32 member states – 30 European and two North American.
Sweden became the 32nd member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) 2024 after completing its accession process in Washington. Sweden's application to join NATO came two years after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine raised security concerns. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that Sweden's accession makes NATO stronger, Sweden safer, and the whole Alliance more secure.

Bangladesh PM pitches for common currency for Muslim countries

The proposal was made during a meeting with a delegation from D-8, consisting of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina proposed the idea of introducing a common currency among Muslim countries.
It aims to enhance trade and commerce among Muslim-majority nations

Pak Punjab Gets First Sikh Minister in Ramesh Singh Arora

Ramesh Singh Arora (48), a legislator from Narowal, became the first from the minority Sikh community to take oath as a minister in the Punjab province of Pakistan on Wednesday.
A three-time Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Narowal, Arora took oath as a minister in the Cabinet of recently sworn-in Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chief Minister Maryam Nawaf Sharif, daughter of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The ceremony was held at the Governor's House in Lahore.
