Napoli's San Paolo Stadium Renamed after Argentina Legend Diego Maradona

  • Italian side Napoli`s San Paolo stadium has been renamed after Diego Maradona in memory of the late Argentina legend who led them to their only two Serie A titles during his seven-year run with Napoli from 1984 to 1991.
  • The Naples city council has unanimously approved a resolution that will change the name of Napoli`s home stadium from Stadio San Paolo to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
  • Naples mayor Luigi de Magistris had urged Napoli to rename the San Paolo Stadium after legendary footballer Maradona.

Wrestling World Cup

  • Ravi Kumar and Deepak Punia are among the 24 wrestlers who will be representing India in the upcoming Wrestling World Cup to be held from December 12 to December 18, 2020. A contingent of 42 members, including 24 wrestlers, 9 coaches, 3 support staff, and 3 referees, will be travelling to Belgrade, Serbia to represent India at the senior Individual World Cup.
  • It will be the first international competition that Indian wrestlers will be participating in after the nationwide lockdown was imposed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
  • The Indian wrestlers will have two more opportunities to attain the remaining quotas at the Asian Qualification Tournament scheduled in March 2021 and the World Qualification Tournament scheduled from April 29 to May 2, 2021.

France's Stephanie Frappart Becomes 1st Woman to Referee in Men's Champions League Tie

  • French football referee Stephanie Frappart scripted history by becoming the first female to officiate a men's game in the Champions League.
  • The 36-year-old achieved the feat during Juventus' comfortable 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv at the Allianz Stadium.

Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja Set New Record

  • In the third ODI against Australia Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja added 150 runs together in just 108 balls as they broke a 21-year-old record for the highest 6th-wicket partnership against Australia in ODI cricket. They went past the tally of 123 set up by Robin Singh and Sadagopan Ramesh in 1999 against the Australians in Colombo in 1999.
  • This is also the third-highest 6th-wicket partnership for India in ODI cricket. Ambati Rayudu and Stuart Binny hold the record with a 160-run stand against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2015. Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni are second on the list with 158-run stand against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2005.

Virat Kohli Breaks Sachin Tendulkar's Record

  • Virat Kohli became the fastest to reach 12,000 runs in One-day International cricket. Kohli breached the mark in the third ODI against Australia in Canberra. He had 11,977 runs before this game and got to the landmark soon after arriving at the crease. Kohli got to the milestone in his 242nd inning, thus bettering the previous record set by Sachin Tendulkar, who got his 12000th run in his 300th inning.
  • Kohli is the second-highest scorer for India in ODIs behind Tendulkar's 18,426 from 463 ODIs. The India captain also holds the record for the fastest batsman (in terms of innings) to 10,000 and 11,000 runs in ODIs.
