The IPL version of the much-talked about Impact Player Rule will be used in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy (SMAT) beginning October 16, the BCCI Apex Council approved.
The Impact Player was introduced in SMAT last season but it had to be brought before the end of the 14th over and had to be named before the toss.
However, this will change from the next season. Like IPL, the teams will be allowed to name four substitutes besides the playing eleven before the toss. Out of the four substitutes, only one can be used as an Impact Player.
The Apex Council also approved the participation of the men's and women's teams for the Asian Games in Hangzhou in September-October.
A second-string Indian team will participate in the men's competition, beginning September 28 while a full-strength side will be picked for the women's event, beginning September 19.
Cricket has been played only thrice in the Asian Games' history and the last time it was held in Incheon in 2014 when India did not take part.
Zaka Ashraf Appointed as Chairman of PCB Management Committee
The Pakistan government appointed a new 10-member PCB Management Committee, headed by Zaka Ashraf, for a period of four months.
Ashraf was the favourite to become chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board last month but the PCB had to postpone that election after the formation of its board of governors, which elects the new chairman, was challenged in multiple courts around the country.
The government Removed PCB election commissioner Ahmed Shehzad Farooq Rana and appointed advocate of Supreme Court Mahmood Iqbal Khakwani in his place.

Priyansh-Avneet Pair Wins Junior Mixed Team Archery Gold at Worlds
Indian archers Priyansh and Avneet Kaur won gold in the junior mixed team compound event, defeating Israel in the final of the World Archery Youth Championships in Limerick, Ireland. It was a nail-biting contest wherein the Indian players beat Israel with a close score of 146-144.
India's Manav Jadhav and Aishwarya Sharma also won a bronze medal defeating Mexico in the cadet mixed compound event.
Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh's Highest ODI Run-scorer, Retires from International Cricket
Bangladesh ODI captain, Tamim Iqbal, announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an abrupt end to his illustrious 16-year career. The shocking announcement was made by Tamim himself during an emotional press conference held in Chattogram, just three months before the World Cup in India.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has not yet named a successor to the ODI captaincy, as Shakib Al Hasan currently leads the team in the T20I format and Litton Das holds the Test captaincy. Tamim had previously retired from T20Is last year and played his last Test match against Ireland in April.
He finishes his ODI career as Bangladesh's highest run-scorer with 8313 runs and 14 centuries, placing him third among current cricketers, behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Aadhav Arjuna, the president of the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association (TNBA), emerged victorious in the election held at Nehru Stadium and secured the position of president of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI). Aadhav garnered an impressive 38 out of the 39 votes, defeating the incumbent president, K. Govindaraj.
Kulvinder Singh Gill, a former player and the president of the Madhya Pradesh Basketball Association, was elected as the secretary general.

Lallianzuala Chhangte Wins AIFF Men's Footballer of the Year Award for 2022-23
Indian football team midfielder Lallianzuala Chhangte was named the AIFF Men's Footballer of the Year for 2022-23 while Manisha Kalyan won her second consecutive Women's Footballer of the Year award. Lallianzuala Chhangte beat Nandhakumar Sekar and Naorem Mahesh Singh of East Bengal to win the award.
Lallianzuala Chhangte bagged the award on the back of some stellar performances for the Indian national team and Mumbai City FC, his club.
Manisha Kalyan pipped Dalima Chhibber and Ngangbam Sweety Devi to the AIFF Women's Player of the Year 2022-23 award. It was her second Player of the Honour in two seasons. Manisha Kalyan, who won the 2020-21 AIFF Women's Emerging Footballer of the Year, currently (2023) plays as a forward for Apollon, a first division football club in Cyprus. Manisha Kalyan became only the third Indian female footballer to win the individual award two or more times after Bala Devi (three) and Bembem Devi (two).
Swimming Nationals: Rujuta Khade Breaks 20-year-old Record
Rujuta Khade broke a 20-year-old national record at the swimming nationals in Hyderabad.
Rujuta clocked 26.47s to win the gold in the 50m women's freestyle event, in the process shattering the earlier national record of 26.61s that stood in Shikha Tandon's name since 2003.
Rujuta's husband, 2010 Asian Games bronze medallist Virdhawal Khade won the 50m men's freestyle -- the fastest race at the meet.
The 22.82s time wasn't Virdhawal's best but the seasoned swimmer still managed to finish ahead of youngsters Mihir Ambre (22.96) and AS Anand (23.30) who clinched the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

India Wins SAFF Championship Title for 9th Time
Hosts India clinched the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship title for the ninth time after beating Kuwait 5-4 in a tense penalty shootout after both sides were deadlocked 1-1 in 120 minutes in the summit clash.
After five rounds of penalty kicks the score line remained 4-4 and sudden death rule was applied.
Mahesh Naorem scored but a diving India goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu saved Khaled Hajiah's shot to hand victory the home side.
Ajit Agarkar New Chief Selector of Indian Men's Cricket Team
Former India player Ajit Agarkar was officially appointed as the chairman of the senior men's selection committee by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Agarkar, a veteran of the game, succeeded former boss Chetan Sharma, who resigned from his post after controversial remarks in February. Agarkar now heads the team of five members consisting of Shiv Sunder Das, Salil Ankola, Subroto Banerjee, and S. Sharath.
The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), consisting of Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, interviewed applicants for the position of one selector in the Men's Selection Committee. The three-member CAC has unanimously recommended Ajit Agarkar for the said position.
Agarkar represented the country in 26 Tests, 191 ODIs, and four T20Is, in addition to playing 110 first-class, 270 List A, and 62 T20 matches.
