Karnataka to Host Khelo India University Games in 2021
The Chief Minister of Karnataka, B.S. Yeddyurappa, announced that Karnataka will be hosting the second Khelo India University Games (KIUG) in the year 2021.
The Khelo India University Games will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Games will be held in the Jain University and other venues of the state.
Jain University will organise the games in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
KIUG is a national level multi-sport the largest University game in India.
The event observes the participation of athletes from universities across the country who compete with each other in different sport disciplines.
It is organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Sports Authority of India (SAI) in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities, Indian Olympic Association and National Sports Federation.

President Ram Nath Kovind Inaugurates Motera Stadium
President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the Motera Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad where the third test between India and England kicked-off.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah was present on the occasion. The President is on a two-day visit to Gujarat. He attended the third convocation of the Central University of Gujarat (CUG) at Gandhinagar as the chief guest.
Spread over 63 acres, the Motera stadium has been billed to be the world's largest cricket stadium with a seating capacity of a whopping 1,10,000. It houses 76 corporate boxes, an Olympic-level swimming pool, an indoor academy, four dressing rooms for athletes and food courts.

Indian Women Boxers Win 5 Gold Medals at Montenegro Youth Tournament
Babyrojisana Chanu and Arundhati Choudhary stretched India's tally to five gold medals as the country's women boxers topped the overall list at the 30th Adriatic Pearl Tournament in Budva, Montenegro.
Lucky Rana secured a silver to help India finish with 10 medals – five gold, three silver and two bronze.
Uzbekistan (2 gold) and Czech Republic (1 gold) ended at second and third positions respectively.

Rajasthan Royals Part Ways with Head Coach Andrew McDonald
IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals parted ways with head coach Andrew McDonald after they mutually agreed "to move in different directions with regard to the leadership structure".
The inaugural champions also announced that they have drafted in former Zimbabwe cricketer Trevor Penney as the lead assistant coach for the upcoming season.
Djokovic Wins 9th Australian Open Title
Novak Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev 7-5 6-2 to win his ninth Australian Open championship and 18th Grand Slam title.
The No. 1-seeded Djokovic has won the trophy three years in a row at Melbourne Park.
He has won six of the last 10 major tournaments overall and his total of 18 Slams moves him within two of the men's record of 20 shared by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Krejcikova and Ram Win 2nd Australian Open Title
Barbora Krejcikova and Rajeev Ram have made the perfect odd-year pairing at the Australian Open, adding the 2021 mixed doubles title to the one they shared in 2019.
Krejcikova and Ram were in control from the start in a 6-1 6-4 win over Australian wild cards Matt Ebden and Sam Stosur.
It was a remarkable run, particularly considering Krejcikova and Ram were among the 72 players forced into a hard lockdown for at least two weeks during quarantine after passengers on their charter flights tested positive to COVID-19 after arriving in Australia.
Krejcikova won her first Australian title with Ram two years ago and with Croatia's Nikola Mektic last year.

IPL Franchise Kings XI Punjab is Now Punjab Kings
IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab was renamed as Punjab Kings and a new logo was unveiled during the 2021 IPL auction in Chennai.
The franchise, jointly owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul, is yet to win an IPL title since the event's inaugural edition in 2008.
Faf du Plessis Retires from Test Cricket
Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has announced his retirement from tests to make T20 International cricket his priority with successive World Cups in the next two years.
Middle-order batsman Du Plessis, 36, was the most senior member of the South Africa Test squad that lost the recent series 2-0 in Pakistan.
Du Plessis made his Test debut against Australia in Adelaide in 2012. He captained the side in 36 Tests but gave up the armband in February 2020 after a string of poor results.
