Union Agriculture Minister Launches 'DigiClaim' for Claim Disbursal

Union Minister of Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched the National Crop Insurance Portal's digitized claim settlement module 'DigiClaim' under the ambit of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) at Krishi Bhawan in Delhi.
With the launch of the module, claims will be disbursed electronically, which will benefit the respective farmers of six states. Now, the automated claim settlement process will be an ongoing activity to ease all insured farmers' lives and provide them with a sustainable financial flow and support.

HP Signs MoU with French Agency to Improve Drinking Water, Sanitation

To improve drinking water and sanitation services in five towns of Himachal Pradesh, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of Rs 817.12 crore project was signed by the Himachal Pradesh Government with the French Development Agency Agence Francaise de Developpment (AFD).
The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri by the Secretary Jal Shakti Vibhag Amitabh Awasthi on behalf of the State Government and country Director AFD Bruno Bosle on behalf of French Development Agency.
The objective of the project is to develop better sewerage facilities in five towns of the state viz. Manali, Bilaspur, Palampur, Nahan and Karsog and to improve drinking water supply in Manali and Palampur towns.

G20 Framework Working Group Meeting Discusses Macro-economic Issues

A host of global issues pertaining to inflation, energy security and climate change were discussed in the G20 second Framework Working Group meeting, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on March 24-25, 2023.
India along with the United Kingdom played a 'facilitator role' in discussing the issues with member countries during the two-day summit.
The Framework Working Group of the G20 Finance Track deliberated on how international policy cooperation can be enhanced to achieve strong sustainable balance and inclusive growth across G20 nations.

Govt. to Appoint Interlocutor Shah Tells Tripura Tribal Party TMP

Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed Tipra Motha Party (TMP) supremo Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barman that the Centre will appoint an interlocutor by March 27 to study the "constitutional solutions" to TMP's demands.
The party, after capturing the politically important Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) in April 2021, has been demanding elevation of the areas of the autonomous body by granting a 'Greater Tipraland State' or a separate state under Articles 2 and 3 of the Constitution.

PM Narendra Modi Addresses 'One World TB Summit'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 'One World TB Summit' on World Tuberculosis Day at Rudrakash Convention Centre in Varanasi.
This summit was organised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Stop TB Partnership. Founded in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership is a United Nations-hosted organisation that amplifies the voices of the people, communities, and countries affected by TB.
During the event, Prime Minister launched various initiatives including the TB-Mukt Panchayat initiative; the official pan-India rollout of a shorter TB Preventive Treatment (TPT); a Family-centric care model for TB and the release of India's Annual TB Report 2023.
The PM also awarded selected States/UTs and Districts for their progress towards ending TB.

'World Trade Centre' to Come Up In Kolkata's Salt Lake: Merlin Group

The World Trade Centre Association and real estate developer, Merlin Group, entered into an agreement for developing a World Trade Centre in Kolkata spread across 3.5 million square feet.
The License Agreement for the project was duly executed between Scott Wang, vice president, World Trade Centre Association (WTCA), Asia Pacific region, and Sushil Mohta, chairman along with Saket Mohta, managing director of Merlin Group, Kolkata,. The investment in the under-construction project located in Salt Lake, West Bengal is pegged at around Rs. 1,500 crore.
The proposed World Trade Centre, he added, would contribute significantly to the state exchequer and would create 30,000 jobs.
The oldest World Trade Centre in India is in Mumbai. There are Centres in Bangalore, Chennai, New Delhi, Noida, Pune, among others.

PM Narendra Modi Unveils Bharat 6G Vision Document

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 6G vision document and said that initiatives for 6G within six months of the 5G rollout showed India's confidence.
The 'Bharat 6G' vision document unveiled by PM Modi states 6G will offer speed up to 1 terabit per second, which is 1,000 times more than the top speed of 5G.
The document was prepared by Technology Innovation Group on 6G (TIG-6G) constituted in November 2021. Its members are from ministries, departments, research and development institutions, academia, standardisation bodies, telecom service providers and industry.

Tribunal Confirms Ban on Popular Front of India

A tribunal constituted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) confirmed the Centre's September 27, 2022 notification declaring the Popular Front of India (PFI) as an unlawful association and banning it for five years.
Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma of the Delhi High Court, who headed the tribunal, pronounced the verdict confirming the ban on the organisation.
In September 22022, the Centre had banned the PFI for five years for allegedly having links with global terrorist organisations such as the ISIS and trying to spread communal hatred in the country.

PM Modi Inaugurates ITU Area Office, Innovation Centre

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Area office and Innovation Centre in India in New Delhi.
ITU is the United Nations specialised agency for information and communication technologies and its Headquarters are in Geneva. India had signed a Host Country Agreement in March 2022 with ITU for establishment of Area Office. The Area Office in India also envisaged to have an Innovation Centre, making it unique among other area offices of ITU.
The Area Office, which is fully funded by India, is located on the second floor of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) building at Mehrauli in the national capital. It will serve India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Afghanistan and Iran, enhancing coordination among nations and fostering mutually beneficial economic cooperation in the region.

India, Japan Sign Agreements on Japanese Language, Bullet Train

India and Japan signed two documents on the renewal of a memorandum of cooperation on the Japanese language and exchange of notes on a 300 billion Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) loan for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train.
Earlier in 2022, JICA signed a loan agreement with the Government of India to provide an Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan of 100,000 million Japanese Yen (approx. ₹ 6,000 Crore) as tranche 3 on the 'Project for the Construction of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR).'
The objective of the project is to develop a high-frequency mass transportation system by constructing the High-Speed Rail between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, using Japan's Shinkansen technology (also known as the "Bullet Train"), thereby enhancing mobility in India and contributing to regional economic development.
The 300 billion Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) loan for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train signed in March 2023 is the 4th tranch.
