Forum Launched to Boost Climate-resilient Indian Agriculture
NITI Aayog, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare (MoA&FW), Government of India, and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations jointly launched the 'Investment Forum for Advancing Climate Resilient Agrifood Systems in India' in New Delhi. It was launched during a two-day multi-stakeholder meeting held at the India International Centre, New Delhi.
This initiative aims to develop an investment and partnership strategy to advance climate resilient agrifood systems among the government, private sectors, and farmers' organizations and financial institutions in India.

In a big setback to the Congress party, former Chief Minister of Karnataka, Jagadish Shettar, rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party nearly a year after quitting the saffron party. Andhra Pradesh Initiates Caste Census, Second Only to Bihar
The Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh initiated a comprehensive caste census, marking the state's commitment to understanding and addressing the complex caste dynamics within its population. Launched with the aid of a specially designed phone app, this ambitious census aims to enumerate all castes in the state and is expected to be completed within 20 days to one month.
To ensure the success of this extensive census, the government has enlisted the support of village and ward volunteers. These grassroots workers, in collaboration with ward and village secretariats, play a crucial role in conducting the census at the ground level. Special training has been provided to these volunteers and staff to facilitate a thorough and unbiased enumeration process.
Andhra Pradesh now stands as the second state in the country, following Bihar, to undertake such a comprehensive caste enumeration.
Over 1500 Farmers Invited to Witness Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare invited over 1500 farmers to witness the 75th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path. These farmers are beneficiaries of various central government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. During their stay, the farmers also underwent training on key government schemes like the Agri Infrastructure Fund, National Seeds Cooperation, and Per Drop More Crop.

Uttarakhand Sportspersons to Get 4 per cent Quota in Government Jobs
Uttarakhand government will bring a bill in the state Assembly to give a 4 per cent reservation in government jobs to sportspersons from the state who have participated or won medals at national and international events.
The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The cabinet gave its approval to bring legislation in the Uttarakhand Assembly granting 4 per cent horizontal reservation to talented players who have participated in or won medals at national and international-level sporting events.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved a proposal to pay full salary to women employees or single parents for the entire period of childcare leave as per their entitlement before they go on leave.

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave the green light for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Oman in the field of Information Technology (IT).
The MoU will remain in force for three years.
Bilateral Cooperation: The agreement encompasses both Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) collaboration in the IT sector.
Employment Opportunities: The envisaged collaboration is anticipated to enhance cooperation, leading to increased employment opportunities in the IT field.

UNGA Prez Arrives in India
United Nations General Assembly President Dennis Francis was on a five-day official visit to India, with geopolitical tensions around the world topping the agenda during his trip.
Francis met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and discussed a wide range of issues, including geopolitical tensions, India's contribution to the UN, and key global meetings.
He also travelled to Jaipur and Mumbai. In Jaipur, met state dignitaries and visited a centre that produces prosthetic limbs.
Francis, who comes from Trinidad and Tobago, was elected last year (2023) to serve as President of the UN General Assembly's 78th session, until September 2024.
Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, marking a momentous occasion in India's history. The inauguration involved the 'Pran Pratishtha' (consecration) ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol, a pivotal event that symbolised the infusion of life into the idol. The event, attended by over 7,000 dignitaries, was not just a religious ceremony but also a cultural milestone for India.
Prime Minister Modi's involvement was central to the ceremony. He participated in the 'Pran Pratishtha' of the Ram Lalla idol. His visit to Ayodhya spanned nearly four hours, filled with various activities and rituals associated with the inauguration.
The Ram Lalla idol, crafted by renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj from Karnataka, is a 51-inch black-coloured depiction of Lord Ram as a five-year-old child.
Designed by the renowned architect Chandrakant B. Sompura and his son Ashish, the temple stands proudly on 2.7 acres of land in the historic temple town.
Chandrakant Sompura, the chief architect of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, hails from a distinguished lineage of temple architects based in Ahmedabad. With a family legacy spanning over several generations, the Sompuras have left an indelible mark on Indian temple architecture, having designed and built more than 200 temples.

India, Cuba Sign Pact on E-solutions
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology signed an MoU with the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Cuba, on cooperation in the field of sharing successful digital solutions implemented at population scale for digital transformation, in New Delhi. The MoU intends to promote digital transformation through capacity-building programs, exchange of best practices, and other collaborative activities to mutually benefit the digital ecosystems of both countries.
India will collaborate with Cuba by building upon development partnership on digital transformation leading to a smooth adoption of digital public infrastructure in Cuba.
The agreement was signed between S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and Wilfredo Gonzalez Vidal, First Deputy Minister of Communications, Cuba.
