Indian Scientists Discover 3 New Species of Fishes Under Genus 'Dawkinsia'

Scientists from the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) based in Mumbai (Maharashtra), the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune (Maharashtra), have jointly discovered a three new fish species under the genus 'Dawkinsia' namely Dawkinsia apsara, Dawkinsia austellus, Dawkinsia crassa.
The 1st species 'Dawkinsia apsara', found in Karnataka's Sita and Sowparnika rivers, has been christened after the beautiful celestial nymphs in Hindu mythology.
The 2nd species 'Dawkinsia austellus', found from the Muvattupuzha river in Kerala, has been named referring to the Latin word for 'South' and refers to the distribution range of the species in Southern Kerala.
The 3rd species 'Dawkinsia crassa', found in the Netravati river of Coastal Karnataka, has been named after the Latin word for 'round/thick' referring to the rounded appearance of the fish.

Number of Tigers in the Indian Sunderbans in 2019-20 Rose to 96

According to the latest estimation of tiger numbers in the Indian Sunderbans by the West Bengal Forest Department, the tiger count for the year 2019-20 rose to 96, from 88 in 2018-19.
The Sunderbans delta, spread over India and Bangladesh, is the only mangrove forest in the world inhabited by tigers.
The increase in the number by eight was significant as it was the biggest annual jump reported from the Sunderbans.

IMD includes Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad in its Weather Forecasts

The India Meteorological Department has started releasing the weather forecasts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad. IMD included the regions as part of its Jammu & Kashmir meteorological sub-division.
Gilgit-Baltistan has been in the northwest subdivision of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). While India has always claimed the entire Jammu & Kashmir as a part of India.
IMD stated that since Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh were announced as two separate Union Territories of India, it started mentioning the regions in its national weather bulletin.

On a remote Australian island, two owl chicks have survived to fledglings, the first to do so in more than a decade.
The Norfolk Island morepork owl has an estimated population of only 45-50, making the pair a huge boost for the future of the species.

US Scientists Discover 1st Known Aquatic Dinosaur 'Spinosaurus aegyptiacus'

A team of scientists from various Universities of US have discovered a carnivorous (meat eating) swimming dinosaur named "Spinosaurus aegyptiacus" at the Kem Kem region of the Moroccan Sahara in North Africa.
Unlike other theropod dinosaurs, the 50-feet (15 meters) long Spinosaurus used its tail for swimming to actively hunt for prey in rivers. By the end of the tail, it has bony bumps that help adjacent vertebrae disappear & assist the tail's tip move back and forth in a way that would propel through water.
Lived about 95 million years ago (Cretaceous period), spinosaurus was even longer than an adult Tyrannosaurus rex (T-rex).
