Paralympic Committee of India Unveils Logo, Mascot for New Delhi World Para Athletics Championship

  • The logo and mascot for the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships was launched along with the launch of the '100 Days to Go' countdown. The event was hosted by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).
  • The newly-revealed mascot named Viraaj is a spirited young elephant with a blade prosthesis is a tribute to strength, optimism, and resilience, while the logo captures India's rich heritage, the spirit of para athletics, and the vibrancy of New Delhi as host city.
  • The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) announced Kangana Ranaut, MP, who is an actor-turned-politician, was appointed as the Brand Ambassador of the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships.
  • The New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships, will take place from September 27 to October 5, 2025. It will be the 12th edition of the World Para Athletics Championships and the largest Para sport event ever held in India.

Neeraj Chopra Wins Paris Diamond League 2025

  • India's javelin star Neeraj Chopra won the Paris Diamond League title in javelin with a throw of 88.16 metres. Neeraj led the event from the first heave. While there was no 90m throw at Paris, Neeraj did manage to beat Germany's Julian Weber, who had trumped him at the Doha Diamond League event in May and then the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial event.

  • The launch of the MP Women's Cricket League 2025 at Gwalior's Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Stadium is a unique and golden moment in the history of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Three teams are participating in the league: Bhopal Wolves Women, Bundelkhand Bulls Women and Chambal Ghariyals Women.
  • The league concludes on June 24, 2025.

WR Chess Clinch Their Second FIDE World Team Blitz Championship Title

  • In the final stage of the knockouts at the FIDE World Blitz Team Championship, WR Chess defeated KazChess in both matches with 4:2, securing their second Blitz crown since the competition began in 2023.
  • Third place went to the Hexamind Chess Club, who defeated the squad of Uzbekistan in both matches with 3.5:2.5.
  • The third edition of the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships took place in London, United Kingdom, between June 10 and 16, 2025.

Manish Thakran Clinches Maiden Title at PGTI NEXGEN

  • Gurugram-based Manish Thakran produced the best score of the third and final round, a five-under 67, and outshined all his rivals and clinched his maiden title with a total score of nine-under 171 at the PGTI NEXGEN Imperial Golf Estate played in Ludhiana.

International League T20, Kuwait Cricket Board Enter Strategic Partnership

  • The International League T20 and the Kuwait Cricket Board entered an exciting partnership for the growth of the sport in Kuwait. Through the partnership, ILT20 will organize cricket matches in the country, which will be aimed at identifying and developing the participating players, as per a release from ILT20.
  • The agreement between the Kuwait Cricket Board and ILT20 was inked at a signing ceremony organised at the Dubai International Stadium. As per the agreement, a domestic event like the ILT20 UAE Development Tournament, will be conducted annually in Kuwait to provide the players from Kuwait an opportunity to get selected by ILT20 franchises for the main ILT20 event.

  • In a dramatic turn of events at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix, Mercedes driver George Russell secured his first victory of the season while McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collided late in the race.
