Harsh Malhotra Launches Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025-East Delhi

  • The Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025-East Delhi, a flagship initiative to promote local sporting talent and physical fitness, was inaugurated at the East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex. Harsh Malhotra, Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road, Transport & Highways, graced the occasion as the chief guest alongside Ravinder Singh Negi, MLA Patparganj and other officials.
  • Harsh Malhotra underscored that the Sansad Khel Mahotsav aims not only to promote sports and fitness but also to identify and nurture genuine talent, guiding the youth towards building a stronger nation.
  • The Sansad Khel Mahotsav features 11 competitions across various disciplines, including athletics, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, wrestling, football, and other sports, ensuring participation for boys and girls across different age categories.

  • The 53rd Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Memorial Indoor Tournament (SSBMT) 2025, organised by the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, which concluded in November.
  • A total of 83 participants from various laboratories of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) are taking part in this prestigious sporting event. The participating laboratories include CSIR–Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi; CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune; CSIR–Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Uttarakhand; CSIR–Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow; CSIR–Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur; and CSIR–National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa.

Indian Hockey's Centenary Celebrations Begin

  • India commemorated a major milestone in its sporting history as centenary celebrations of Indian hockey were held at the iconic Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The date marks exactly 100 years since the founding of the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) — the country's first governing body for the sport — on November 7, 1925. Organised by Hockey India (HI) in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the celebrations are a nationwide tribute to a sport that has shaped India's identity, inspired generations, and brought home 13 Olympic medals, including 8 gold.

Bharat Petroleum Hosts 44th PSPB Inter-Unit Lawn Tennis Tournament

  • Indian Olympians Rohan Boppana, Sumit Nagal, Ankita Raina, Prarthana Thombare, Vaishanvi Adkar, Sahaja Yamalapalli, Shrivalli Rashmika Bhamidipaty alongside Davis Cupper, Yuki Bhambri, Vishnuvardhan are amongst the top tennis players seen in action at the Bharat Petroleum-organised 44th PSPB Inter-Unit Lawn Tennis Tournament which is being held at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts in Pune from November 5 to 8, 2025.
  • Deepak Jain, Chief General Manager, Sports, Bharat Petroleum, informed that over 100 players are representing tennis teams of major oil and gas corporations such as IOCL, ONGC, MNGL, OIL, NRL, EIL, HPCL and hosts BPCL in the four-day event which is being played in the team and individual competitions in the men's, women's and veterans categories. Sameera Reddy, member secretary of PSPB and ITF White Badge referee Shiva Reddy were present on the occasion.
  • Top Indian tennis stars Rohan Bopanna, Divij Sharan, Sumit Nagal; Prarthana Thombare, Riya Bhatia and Rushmi Chakravarthi are representing the Indian Oil Corporation team.
  • Davis Cuppers Yuki Bhambri, J. Vishnu Vardhan, and VM Ranjeet are playing for the ONGC side.
  • World University Games bronze medalist Vaishnavi Adkar, Fed Cup Players Sahaja Yamalapalli, Shrivalli Rashmika Bhamidipaty, Riya Sachdeva and Anant Mani are representing hosts BPCL apart from the two-time veterans champion Raj Kumar Dubey.
  • The event is being played under the ITF rules and has internationally and nationally certified officials officiating in the events with all top tennis players in India participating.

Indian Army Hosts Army Sports Conclave 2025

  • The Indian Army hosted the Army Sports Conclave 2025 at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in India's sporting journey. This event underscored the Army's dedication to fostering athletic talent and supporting the nation's Olympic aspirations for 2036. With key addresses from military and sports officials, the conclave focused on enhancing collaboration among various stakeholders to elevate India's global sporting profile.
  • The Army Sports Conclave 2025 commenced with a Welcome Address by Lt Gen Ajay Ramdev, Director General of Integrated Training. He emphasized the importance of the conclave as a platform where "purpose meets passion" in advancing India's sporting ambitions.
  • The conclave featured discussions centered around two main themes: 'Institutional Synergy' and 'Athlete 360'. These sessions focused on the importance of coordinated efforts among stakeholders and the holistic development of athletes. Participants deliberated on aligning national sports policies, institutional frameworks, and technological innovations to ensure sustained success at the Olympic level.

Tom Moody Is LSG's Global Director of Cricket

  • Former Australian allrounder Tom Moody was appointed by Lucknow Super Giants as their global director of cricket. Announcing his onboarding, LSG stated that Moody will oversee cricket strategy, player auction, player retention and global talent scouting across RPSG's franchises.
  • At LSG, Moody will join hands with fellow Australian Justin Langer who remains the Head Coach and newly appointed strategic advisor Kane Williamson. Moody has already had stints in the IPL with Punjab Kings and famously with Sunrisers Hyderabad with whom he also won the trophy once.

Chennai Open 2025: Janice Tjen Makes History with Breakthrough Title Win

  • Indonesia's Janice Tjen completed a double at the Chennai Open 2025 tennis tournament, defeating Australia's Kimberly Birrell to win the singles title before teaming up with compatriot Aldila Sutjiadi for the doubles crown.
  • At the SDAT Stadium, the world No. 82 Janice Tjen claimed her maiden WTA Tour singles tennis title, becoming the first Indonesian to do so since Angelique Widjaja in 2002.
  • It was the 8th (2nd as Chennai Open) edition.
