India Re-elected to ICAO Council with Stronger Mandate
India re-elected to the Part II of the Council of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), a specialized UN agency. Part II comprises of States making the largest contribution to the provision of facilities for international civil air navigation. The election took place in September 2025, during the 42nd ICAO Assembly Session, held in Montreal conclude on 3rd October.
India secured more votes as compared to the 2022 elections, reflecting the growing confidence among Member States in its leadership and commitment to international civil aviation.
Earlier, on 2nd September 2025, the Ministry of Civil Aviation hosted a reception for Ambassadors and High Commissioners in New Delhi ahead of the 42nd ICAO assembly session. On this occasion, Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Rammohan Naidu had sought the support of Member States for India's candidature for re-election for the 2025-2028 term.

Rajeev Verma Appointed as New Chief Secretary of Delhi
The Ministry of Home Affairs appointed senior IAS officer Rajeev Verma as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi. He replaced Dharmendra, who superannuated in September 2025.
Rajeev Verma, a 1992 batch AGMUT cadre officer, served as Chief Secretary of Chandigarh from January 2024.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Inaugurates Sikkim Horticulture College Building
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in September 2025, virtually inaugurated the new administrative and academic building of the College of Horticulture, Sikkim, in New Delhi. Addressing the media, Mr Singh said that this 52 crore rupees worth project will show a new direction for the students, farmers of Sikkim and the entire North-East region.
He added that students will not only learn crop production techniques but will also gain in-depth knowledge about processing, packaging, marketing, and export. The Minister also said that the campus will prepare the state to become a role model for a green economy.

PM Modi Chairs 49th Pragati Meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 49th meeting of PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) at South Block on Wednesday, reviewing eight key infrastructure projects spanning 15 States and Union Territories with a cumulative investment exceeding Rs. 65,000 crore.
The reviewed projects cover critical sectors such as Mines, Railways, Water Resources, Industrial Corridors, and Power, and are seen as crucial for driving economic growth and improving public welfare. The Prime Minister directed officials to ensure strict adherence to timelines, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and promptly resolve implementation bottlenecks.
Cabinet Approves CSIR Scheme to Strengthen Science and Research with Rs. 2,277 crore Outlay
The Union Cabinet in September 2025, approved the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) / Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) scheme on Capacity Building and Human Resource Development with a total outlay of Rs. 2,277.40 crore for the 15th Finance Commission cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26).
Implemented by CSIR, the scheme will cover all R&D institutions, national laboratories, Institutes of National Importance, Institutes of Eminence, and universities across India. It aims to provide young researchers with opportunities to pursue careers in universities, industry, national R&D laboratories, and academic institutions under the guidance of eminent scientists and professors across Science, Technology & Engineering, Medical, and Mathematical Sciences (STEMM).
