NASA Launches Satellite on Mission to Detect Water on the Moon

A dishwasher-sized NASA satellite was launched into space from Florida to identify where water, a precious resource for lunar missions, resides on the moon's surface in places such as the permanently shadowed craters at its poles.
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from the Kennedy Space Centre in Cape Canaveral carrying NASA's Lunar Trailblazer orbiter. The Lunar Trailblazer spacecraft was built by Lockheed Martin's space division.
Lunar Trailblazer, which weighs about 440 pounds (200 kg) and measures about 11.5 feet (3.5 meters) wide when its solar panels are fully deployed, was sent to find and map water on the moon's surface.

China Successfully Launches ChinaSat-10R

China successfully launched the ChinaSat-10R (Zhongxing-10R) communications satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO). The satellite, which replaces the aging ChinaSat-10, was carried by a Long March 3B rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre. This mission marked China's continued efforts to enhance its satellite communication infrastructure, particularly in support of sectors like transportation, emergency response, energy, forestry, and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

First Astronaut with Disability Cleared for ISS Mission

The first-ever astronaut with a physical disability was cleared for a mission onboard the International Space Station, the European Space Agency.
John McFall, a British surgeon and former Paralympian who lost a leg in a motorbike accident said that he was "hugely proud" of clearing the hurdle.

India and Nepal Strengthen Scientific Ties with New Agreement

India and Nepal took a major step toward advancing their scientific collaboration with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India, and the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). The agreement, signed at CSIR-National Physical Laboratory in New Delhi, aims to deepen research and technological cooperation between the two nations. This MoU builds on a long-standing partnership and focuses on various domains, including biotechnology, environmental sciences, alternative energy, and material sciences.
The agreement covers a broad range of scientific and technological areas:
Research Collaboration: India and Nepal will work on joint research projects in fields like biological sciences, food science and technology, alternative energy, drug discovery, and environmental technologies.
Exchange Programs: Scientists and researchers from both countries will have opportunities to visit each other's institutions to share knowledge and resources.
Workshops and Training: Seminars and capacity-building programs will be organised to enhance skills and innovation.
Technology Access: Research facilities and scientific infrastructure will be shared to boost collaboration.
Institutional Partnerships: Universities and research institutions will engage in joint initiatives to promote scientific development.

Microsoft Unveils First Quantum Computing Chip for Future data Centres

Microsoft launched Majorana 1, its first quantum computing chip that will enable the creation of quantum computers able to solve "meaningful, industrial-scale problems in years, not decades".
As per the tech giant, the new chip could transform everything from fighting pollution to developing new medicines, joining Google and IBM, arguing that the promise of quantum computing is closer to reality.
